The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I am playing at 4k resolution and was unable to eliminate screen tearing no matter the ingame settings. I found that by enabling Triple Buffering and Adaptive vSync within the Wither 3 drive profile, it has helped an awful lot though. I still get some in cutscenes though, but nowhere near as much.

I started on Blood and Broken Bones difficulty, and was fine until I had to defeat wraiths during the Barons mission with his baby. Dropped it to normal difficulty, and it was much easier. Would prefer to play on B&BB level but the constant deaths became frustrating, and most of the time I ventured round with next to no health as it doesnt heal on meditation. Any good advise for starting out in B&BB difficulty?

Stockpile food, use oils and upgrade quen as much as possible. That quest with the wraiths is tough though because your against the clock. I also had to reduce the difficulty.

Just finished Blood & Wine.

Dunno whether to replay it
Anna was killed by her sister
& I've read there's a happier ending but I went with what I thought was the best way to handle things, when I play RPG's I normally go with the forgive & forget type of decisions, but what Detlaff did I thought he dissevered to be brought to justice.

I'm not at all convinced this is the last we'll see of Geralt, so not sure I should re-do it for a better/happier ending.

What did you all do?

Well finally after having bought the GOTY almost 4 months ago I've taken the plunge and started playing. It was more a case of not wanting to get sucked into something that can take tens if not hundreds of hours, so was waiting till I felt ready for it. :)

And damn it looks stunning! I've only just got past the tutorial and already enjoying it.

Only gripes are the camera movement is a bit annoying and combat takes a lot of getting used to - taking some time out to have a proper think about keybinds.

Also need to tweak the settings - sadly can't run everything maxed at 1680x1050 on my gtx960 so am having to turn down some settings like shadows. I really want to keep HairWorks on though - it looks too good to turn off. I've managed to push it up to around 40fps, although would be nice to get a solid 50-60, but I don't know how much visual quality I'm willing to sacrifice for that.
Are there any easy recommended tweaks to push the performance without sacrificing too much of the visuals? I know I have looked at some guides but would be nice to get actual player opinions on what works and what doesn't. :)

I had the most positive ending
both sisters survived and reconciled
but I still only saw the
fairy tale
part so when I inevitably replay the entire saga in a couple years, I will definitely go the other way.

I can't be the only one who thinks it's utterly boring and the combat is god awful.

That said it does look amazing so I'll give it that.

Combat in TW1 was awful... it improved in TW2 and TW3 was much better IMO. I like the fact that it isn't about standing there and button mashing in all honesty. I do remember first encountering combat in TW2 and thinking, "what the hell is this carp?" before getting used to it. :D

Can't agree about the game being boring, it has some of the best written storylines of any game I've played. Each to their own, though. I'd at least give it a chance.

I know you don't want to turn hairworks off, but it really is an FPS killer. I'd still start with that.

Tbh I think I'm going start from fresh and give it a good go, its got everything I should like but just couldn't get into it.

I find I get like that sometimes too. Usually it means I'm not in the right frame of mind for gaming so I have a break then come back to it a bit later. :D

But yeah, get through the first couple of hours and you'll be rewarded. I found I had a bit of a slump around Skellige where I started to lose interest as well but kept going and things got much better again. :D

play on death march and then come back and say combat is crap..

nearly at end of blood and wine and gonna go complete dishonoured 2 again.. dont want it to end :(

witcher 3 on ultrawide monitor max graphics with .exe fix and few mods is the best story driven game ever imo!

The combat is crap, movement etc... feels awful. It's extremely basic but I guess there is more to this game than that.

Started it yesterday....

Story is great but I am still to used to Skyrim and keep looking in the bottom left had corner for the mini map. Combat is also a bit different but otherwise it is a very pretty game with great characters.

Only real mona is there is no walk... More half run speed... wish it had a walk=walk fast=sprint

I replayed it & got the happy ending, not sure which one I'll keep. If I decide one way or the other I'll just delete the saves(or not).

Loved
the fairy tale
btw :)

If I replay then I'll probably take the Yennefer route. She came across as a complete douche for a large part of the game so my Geralt kicked her to the kerb in favour of Triss' redhead goodness (despite her questionable morals!) :p
