The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I've been messing around with some of the lighting mods on Nexus. I don;t think any of them are worth it tbh.

I've got the super turbo lighting mod I think and it's pretty good. Different areas have different looks to them anyway as you probably know, and whilst I wasn't sure about it when in White Orchard, it's looked fantastic in various places since.

A lot of the time it just looks 'right' and natural.

Gonna reload and see out a different ending.

Ah, that's the thing - you'll find that the decisions you made to get to this point were sometimes made a lot earlier on ;) Or sometimes it was a combination of choices you said or did.

That's whats awesome. It's not just "say this, get this result" immediately; some of those earlier choices can come back to bite...

As I know because.... (Base game spoiler)
Who would have known the consequences of breaking Dijkstra's leg? Along with that, I wasn't aware Geralt's response to "Shove him out of the way" would be "Snap his leg in half" :D

The more I play this the better it gets.

At first I thought the combat clunky and the user interface and inventory system a problem. Especially playing on death march - the game is quite unforgiving to begin with when you're not familiar with the combat system.

But now I find the stylised combat to be extremely fun, along with the awesome music and having figured out the item/equipment mechanics it is no longer a barrier to play. In fact having always wanted to play this kind of character in TES games but the gameplay mechanics and style not being quite right for it, nevermind the shallow empty world. Every additional hour in TW3 just continues to pull me in, the world is so beautiful, compelling and immersive. Starting to understand the acclaim now.

I thoroughly enjoyed one of the first contracts with the noonwraith at the well in White Orchard, slamming yrden on the floor in the final fight - this was a lot of fun. The quest itself was well done - as is every single sidequest I come across.

I've been looking at different build videos to get an idea of how I want to develop Geralt and am loving the idea of Combat/Signs with Piercing Cold and Aard. Looks like tons of fun. Not too interested in alchemy though - it's too passive/background buffs! :D

I've just gone with a sweetfx profile in the end and it looks amazing. The one by forum member SS-89 is still the best imo.

I would really love a mod to change the human combat though, as I still really detest it!... It is just so lazy. I just turn the difficulty to easy for it most of the time.(and I will for the whole of Hearts of Stone). Tbh I am surprised that there are not more mods for the game. Pleased with the new enemy levelling. It does go some way to balancing the quest levelling a bit better

I am trying to go out or my way to do things I didn't do before. I always purposely leave content whenever I play through a game so there is still stuff to discover.

Uninstalled the game and deleted all my saved games today!

Game has been on my PC since release and although I only played through each separate story once I feel like I have spent enough time in the world that I am able to sadly say good bye to Geralt, the Witcher.

One of the best games ever on the PC. I still think there is a little room for improvement. For example although there are loads and loads of well thought out side quests, there are some quests which are just fillers.

The swords and amour in the main game needs some tweaks. Most of the stuff you find is never any better than what you've already got.

But over all, lived up too and exceed expectations I say.

11/10 for the Witcher 3 and the DLC's.

Also the boss fights could have been a bit tougher. Once your Geralt is experienced you can shred through the bosses especially with whirl.

The fight against one of the bosses of the Wild Hunt could have been much harder for example. (Caranthir)

Some are tough like the big boss in B&W. You know who. I tried to put it in spoiler tags, but they are not working...

Oh and those Bruxa!! I wold say pound for pound the hardest enemies in the game.

I went back to Skyrim today for the first time in years. Even with a stack of mods installed, it pales in comparison to this. It highlighted to me just how much TW2 and TW3 have shifted the goal posts - no wonder TESVI is so far away. Bethesda have quite a task on their hands.

As a curiosity, are there any essential mods for The Witcher 3? I own the PS4 version, but I'm debating selling it and buying the PC version (won't cost much given I haven't purchased the DLCs yet anyway).

Am completely hooked on this game.. Didn't think I would ever say this but witcher 3 might just be my all time favourite title.
They is so much to explore and find, you truly get lost in a breath taking well created world.
I would even say this is the best open word game to date. The amount of detail in the world is crazy good.

Am about 40 hours in and started going back on myself and finishing quests because I already failed two of them.

Not really any essential mods tbh... Though I do personally consider one essential - No Talk Icon. It removed the weird talk icon that appears for some reason above some people's heads (even though you can't even talk to them... Bizarre design decision!).

There is a really good mod that removes level restrictions on weapons and armour, but it isn't for everyone. I use it as I really don't like level restricting gear, and it is a good way to make human combat bearable (I was using a level 30 sword at level 4), but as I say, it isn't for everyone.

On the comment about weapons and armor rarely being better than what you currently have. I suppose that could be seen as realistic. A guy with years of killing mythical beasts and questing is probably better equipped than most of the foes he slays :D.

Does kinda suck though lol.

I've grown to love the Witcher 3. But I definitely think they need to improve their interface in their next game. If it had a simple intuitive looting and skilling tree like my Diablo 3 or Wow I would give this game so much more love.

I'll stick with the PS4 version then.

.

You would think...but in reality, Geralt is the weakest person in the entire world of TW3! An average peasant with a wooden stick can casually KILL witcher armour-wearing Geralt with one lazy swing, whereas it can regularly take Geralt the legendary Witcher many, many swings of his sword to kill a fat peasant who isn't even wearing a shirt!

Must admit the fast travel from anywhere mod was useful later on when I was just heading back across terrain that I'd already explored to death.

When reading stuff like this I am left scratching my head about what is so bad about the interface in TW3. Both the inventory and skill screens seem very straightforward and easy to read to me

Guys, I have played through this a couple of times already and recently decided to start a new playthrough with the intention of playing the DLC's.

I am not too far from the end of the main questline but should I complete it before starting the DLC's or does it not make a difference?

I would play them after the main quest, I always fin anyway that I finish the main game still under the required levels for the expansions and that's with almost clearing everything :D

Expansions take place after the main game, finish it first.

I've only just realised something - obviously I'm playing through it again, and as it is so big I have kept it on my hard drive all this time. I have just noticed the goty edition in my GOG galaxy list. Is there actually any difference between the goty and the version I will be playing right now?... I'm pretty sure there isn't but thought I'd check!(the goty description does mention a few things such as better stability. I imagine the game was patched with that anyway?)
