The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

On a percentage of main mission only and I doing the Ugly Baby mission now, how much have the story I done so far guys?

If it's the 'second' ugly baby part where you are on your way to Kaer Morhen I'd say your about 70% into the main story, still plenty to do and loads of story to go!

Won the game in a competition on Gregsters YouTube channel yonks ago but never got around to playing it, gotta say it does look lovely.

Really not my type of game but I'm going to try and get into it.

I thought the same, I see you a lot in the BF1/FPS threads so I guess we share the same taste in games. Every other RPG (not that I've tried that many) I've never really got into. But Witcher 3 is a masterpiece of a game. I picked it up in the Xmas sales. Not touched BF4 or BF1 since or anything else for that matter.

Its a 9-10 out of 10 for almost everything. Its so well polished, Its runs like a dream for me with very slightly tweaked from all out Ultra settings and I've not come across a single bug in 80+ hours of game play, it genuinely feels like the Developers have put there heart and sole into the game (Hope your reading this EA/DICE). :D

Only bad point for me and this is really digging for a bad point. The sword combat could be a bit more indepth, but the story, Atmosphere, Sounds and the world my god the world its magnificent, it can be forgiven.

Highly recommend you play it on "Death March" Highest but one difficulty its hard but fun. I'm really enjoying it and feel if I'd started on a lower setting, I'd have stomped everything.

Hit me up if anything confuses you. Its a very in-depth game and I know a lot of things now I wish I knew and understood at the start of the game.

Sit back with a Xbox pad and enjoy.

Sigh... Ridiculous bug with the Tower full of Mice quest. At one point you get attacked by loads of mice... They each one hit Me, and I can't hit them.

Loads of times this has happened so far. I apparently it is something to do with level scaling where enemies get out to level 100.

Never had that bug.. Will look out for it. Not even ingi works?

From memory swords do not work

Damn it just keeps getting better.

Just finished the
baron's questline. Had the little family reunion in the swamp - baron went off with anna to the healer and made small peace with his daughter. The whole Crones plot was properly horrific and engaging - I felt numb on finishing it. Rode slowly out on Roach (it's amazing how this game actually makes you want to walk/trot rather than run everywhere) leaving those memories behind. Fantastic writing.

Now going to tidy up some loose end low level quests in Velen before heading to Novigrad. :D

Managed to kill them by spamming igni and healing potions!.. Even igni which I have massively upgraded took many many goes to kill them!

^curunen. My advice would be, don't worry about leaving quest and moving on. The pacing in the game is kind of weird in that they load a lot of quests early for some reason and leave the second half of the game a bit of a rush. I always leave loads of quests in Velen and Novigrad until after I have been to Skellige. For example, I saved a tower full of Mice for Act 2 at level 26 as it just makes more sense.

^Thanks, I'm always worried about missing out stuff but it's nice to know I can come back to low level ones later in the game. Some of the quests in Velen make no sense to drop everything to run off and do when considering the importance of the main quest.

I think my only gripe so far is the overwhelming amount of side quests playing on the usual OCD with rpgs of systematically finishing them off before moving on, which has a negative effect on playing "organically".

What I will likely do is as much as possible in the current playthrough, then eventually a a NG+ where I play it out movie-like primarily motivated by the urgency of the main quest and not being pulled around on errands.

I agree about the importance of the main quest making site quests feel a bit silly. There is actually a good break in the story where it does make sense to wander off doing other things... But most people will have done most of the side quests by then!

I save most side quests until the Brothers In Arms quests. Tbh, I play the majority of the game during those quests. Obviously I didn't know that the first time I played though. Now I can manage it better. It makes the story flow a lot better imo if you prioritise finding Ciri until this point, then go off doing whatever.

Anyone remember the Skyrim mod 'Timing Is everything'? This game would benefit greatly from something like that imo.

Close to completing this playthrough of the main quest now. It really is one of the best experiences in gaming from a story pov. The entire Isle of Mists to Battle of Kaer Morhen is incredible(though the battle itself is a bit underwhelming tbh). I think my plan is once I finish the main quest, I'll play something different for a few weeks, probably XCOM 2, then come back for Hearts of Stone, the another 2 weeks of something else, then Blood and Wine.

I think it probably works better if you space them out, otherwise it's a bit too much of an overload. Tbh, I do just want to get to B&W already!

I remember when the GOTY awards were taking place around the time this and Fo4 were the prime games, I was astonished to see FO4 players saying that red rocket:

Had so much character and an astonishing experience in comparison to the witcher threes locations. All i could think of was the whole story behind Kaer Morhen and the battle, how on earth does a garage where literally nothing takes place.... have more character and a better experience.

I'm trudging through FO4 but to be honest, CDPR are a league above Bethesda when it comes to creating atmosphere and character. I rarely walk around slowly just to take in scenery in FO4 whereas I'll load up TW3 just for a bit of virtual tourism because I'm sure I can always find something new!

Absolutely, even going to the same places at different times in W3 makes a dramatic difference in atmosphere.

Fo4 on the contrary feels "flat" at all times.

Trudging is exactly the word. I felt FO4 was an extension of FO3 and Skyrim. I pushed myself to try and do everything I could, but beyond the settlement expansions the game had nothing to offer once the main story was completed.

Didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped I would.

Witcher 3's quests kept me enthralled for pretty much the entire time.

To be fair to Skyrim, it's a much more interesting environment than FO4. I felt that like TW3 there was a lot more, "ooooh what's that over there, let's take a look!" going on.

I suppose there's also the fact that by its very nature, a nuclear wasteland is going to look pretty dull for the most part. I'm finding the story and the characters quite dull in all honesty apart from what looks like a throwback to FO3 about to happen. Maybe that'll make me more enthusiastic if it happens.

Really? I would say the opposite. Fallout 4 is much more interesting than TW3 in that regard imo. The world is a lot more reactive, with many more unique locations with a bucket load of attention to detail.

You serious or joking?

FO4 has practically no attention to detail as a vanilla game. Just felt like bethesda didn't want to make it themselves so just left it to modders.

Please point out some places on Fo4 that are more interesting as im genuinley curious as to if i missed them, ( of course no spoilers for those who may still be yet to play it )
