The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Ah ok that makes sense, it's just the way the email is worded as a 'separate product' suggests it's an actual additional copy of the game. Did you get the same message?

Basically, if you have the base game and install both expansions and DLCs, you already have a GOTY edition.

HOWEVER, there is a separate GOTY edition in your GOG library, because that one includes everything in a single installer. It is provided to people for convenience, when they will want to play the game in the future, they can just install this and have everything, instead of installing the game and expansions separately.

Ah sorry I've given you a bum steer - it was taking off the price of the main Witcher 3 game that I already owned when it quoted me the £17.36 - didn't realise it had automatically logged me into the website - again sorry mate!

No probs, it wasn't for me anyway, I already have the game. I just mentioned to someone that it was the price you posted and then couldn't find it myself!

Ha! I just found the much searched for Vampire from the trailers for the first time in over 200 hours! Cool little quest.

Do you mean the one you wake from his slumber? I properly LOL'd at it and found it by accident without knowing it existed. One of the funniest gaming moments I can recall! :D

Yeah that one. Just happened to be exploring around the area and stumbled across it. Cool moment.

It was one of the bits in the trailer that everyone sear he'd for, but he is actually very hard to find!

God I forgot how bad the Olgierd fight was!...you can't even block. It's just tedious!

Edit - FFS... Turns out it's that levelling bug again.. I'm getting so many bugs in this playthrough. He's level 100 and block doesn't work:rolleyes:

Just started again on the + game at level 53. I had a few quests/question marks left after BnW, but I was craving the lore again. It's very strange coming up against red skull opponents and smacking them silly. The fact that oils, decoctions, and of course abilities, carry over makes it a slightly more realistic environment (by that I mean, a veteran witcher should be able to deal with a pack of wolves!).

That said, I bumped the difficulty up to Blood and Bones, and I'm enjoying it so far. Most situations I can deal with, even the 'red skull' enemies; as long as I take some time and think about my potions/oils/decoctions etc.

It's been a while since I played the game the first time, and I'm still super enjoying the re-run. You see little references in the dialogue that in retrospect are so obvious, but at the time you thought nothing of.

One thing that's boned me so far is my gwent cards though. Trying to beat the Nilfgaardian noble in Vizima is tough first time around. I'l have to come back when I have better cards. :/

I could lose my physical self in this world. What a game.

He is beatable with the starter deck + cards you can buy from White Orchard. I've beaten him twice now on first visit. Though I think you do have to get a little lucky with the cards he gets.

That one is a challenge, must have taken me 20 mins or rolling around and eating my entire inventory until I wore him down.

Dodge is your friend.

IIRC, he didn't lay a hand (or sword) on me during the entire fight. I think I let him hit me once just to see what kind of damage he does but he telegraphs his moves eons in advance so you simply dodge his attacks.

20 minutes... At level 100 he would still have full health after 20 minutes! And with block not working I can't afford to get hit once as every hit is death.

Gonna have to hope something has changed when I turn it on tomorrow!

Just thought I'd come and play this as I've had it since release and only installed it, it's running a 10Gb update!!

Any 1st time players advice and also does it work well with the Xbox controller?

Works fine with an Xbox controller, however I found I was much happier with keyboard and an MMO style mouse with key mappings to the various buttons.

Control pad is nicer for the smoother camera control when exploring but M+KB is better for combat IMO. You'll get used to whatever you start with. :)

Cheers, any hints and tips for a first timer ;)
