The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

60+ at 3440x1440 with everything on ultra on a 970? There was me thinking davewhite04 was being a bit economical with his numbers lol.

2560x1080 here, everything on high, 50+ on a 970. That'll do me, no way i'd be seeing those numbers at 3440x1440 lol.

I was talking about 1080p.
I get 60fps in 1080p with ultra preset, foliage distance and shadows dropped to high, hairworks off (haven't tested the new hairworks options yet).

See that's what annoys me about forums. Posters talking absolute nonsense and making people think there's something up with their systems. I have to turn a few things to high to achieve +60fps and that's at 1080p.

I didn't say any nonsense, I agree with your settings, which is why I said "almost ultra".

I guess i should play Dragon Age first then? Just finished downloading both

I finished Witcher 3 month and a half ago, 200 hour playthrough.

I tried to play Dragon Age 3 a week ago.

I quit after 2 hours and uninstalled it.

It is so...empty. Vapid. Generic. The intro was another generic fantasy rehash of "evil invading through oblivion gates! You are the chosen one with neon light, errm, mark, on your hand! We do not know you but will follow you because reasons!"

And when I got through the terrible intro and arrived at first main area of the game (Hinterlands) and saw the quests there (bring X this, kill Y that), I just couldn't take it. Not after Witcher 3.

I have my PC going to my amp, which then splits to both my 24" monitor or 50" plasma...

And this game, from a 980ti, at 1080p on a plasma is just... So many jaw dropping moments. Stunning.

360 controller helps as well haha. Not to mention, my cinema setup so the surround sound is just sublime. Specially in wooded areas, the creaking and cracking of wood is just something else.

You haven't seen anything yet.
But yeah on ultra, 1080p, on large plasma, at 60fps, it is utterly sublime experience. Best game I have ever played. So many amazing quests and moments. Witcher 3 has pretty much no filler, whereas Ubisoft games or DA3 is chock full of it.

Finally killed the griffin tonight after a couple of attempts. A short while later, when I'm getting question before meeting the King, I was left wondering if I was missing out having not played the previous two in the series as the questions seem to relate to previous events I had no idea about.

Yes, those questions are there for people who played Witcher 2 and did not have saves to import. You could have chosen when starting new game for the game to decide this stuff for you.
I would recommend you to ideally play the previous game (or the best, read all the books and play both games :)), or at least read some summary or watch some retrospective videos..but that way you will miss out on one of the best games ever made in Witcher 2.

Two 980 Ti's even only at 1080p?

980Ti is fine for max details at 1080p. 970 is fine too with foliage distance lowered to high and hairworks disabled.

Quite interesting the difference in what people want from RPG's. :)

I tend to skip most of the dialogue, find it tedious.

Oh for F sake. Witcher 3 has the best written, most natural sounding dialogue since...forever ? Only few games in history were written at similarly high quality - Planescape Torment, Vampire Bloodlines, Fallout New Vegas, Witcher 2. Skipping it just does complete disservice to the game. I understand people liking different things, but reading this still makes me just sad.

Yep, my game of the year, with Dying Light a close second.

Trouble is, after playing Witcher 3, other games just seem so...old fashioned now.

Funny how two best games of the year are Polish, huh ?
I agree, for me best games this year are Witcher 3, followed by GTA V and Dying Light. Can't wait for expansions to all three.
And I am going through the same thing. Finished TW3 almost two months ago, but have no desire to play anything else. Tried out Dragon Age 3, which I had to uninstall after two hours, couldn't take the generic..everything. So I am reading Sapkowski's Hussite trilogy books now instead :D

Just start a NG+ and do the same as you are now. At least your have stuff to work towards.

I'm still playing the game all these months later. I only recently got to skellige so go lots of quests left.

I thought about it, but the game is too fresh in memory...when I replay it I want to have it forgotten a bit so I can enjoy it even more, I never replay games soon after I finish them, usually I wait at least a year

But the desire is strong, not denying that :D

- 6 million copies sold in first 6 weeks
- 82 Million $ Budget for Wicher 3
- 137 Million $ Sales revenue
- 63 Million $ Net profit
- 1 Million Activations on GoG
- 750 000 activations on Steam

HUGE CONGRATS to CD Projekt, they created best game I have ever played and did it in the most classy way possible, and now they reap benefits. I feel happy for them.

I've just finished this too. Probably over 100 hours, not really sure, the timer in the character page kept resetting for whatever reason!

I very much enjoyed this game! Not much in life these days holds my interest. Looking forward to the expansions. Don't think I'll do the NG+ though.

The last twenty minutes were a little bit intense to say the least but in the end I was happy with the ending I got.

Not sure what to play now. Got Arkham Knight which seems to run nice for me so maybe gice that a whirl.

Anyone play Witcher 2? How does that compare?

Witcher 2 is also brilliant. If you enjoyed story and dialogues in TW3, you will also love Witcher 2, and quite possibly even Witcher 1, although it has a bit more rougher edges.

Just picked up Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition for the princely sum of £3.11 :)

Enjoy. It is so damn good. Two playthroughs are mandatory too, because there are basically two games in one after the first chapter. I finished TW2 three times and plan to go fourth time next year :)
And then import into TW3 and replay it with expansions.

First reviews out for Hearts of Stone:

IGN Spain 9.5

XGN.nl - 9.5

Gamespot - 9/10

GameReactor EU - 8/10

I have no doubt this simple expansion will be more enjoyable than any other game this year, Fallout 4 included.

Is there any sort of save editor out for this yet? I really wanna play the DLC (bought the Season Pass back when the game first came out), but I've lost my save (forgot to back up, and Galaxy is somewhat primitive in regards to essential features, e.g. cloud saves, etc.) Don't want to download some random save either 'cause I'm pretty fussy about that stuff :p

You dont have to download anything, the expansion comes with Geralt ready.

My problem with Witcher 3 came when I hit about level 27ish, and levelling up basically became pointless; all of the abilities I can buy into just don't add anything to my character or cause me to lose something important about how he plays.

Also the high level armour just seems poor.

The viper weapons are fine, but the viper armour is poor.
I didn't find any good (or even average) light armour in the DLC.

Levelling in Witcher is not that important, the game has such a good writing and design that some loot game and stats and numbers is just irrelevant BS compared to that. The whole game could be levelling-free and I would still love the **** out of it.

Man, 235 hours, game and expansions finished, and all I want to do is play more..
I want Blood and Wine already...and more expansions afterwards..

I'm off work for 2 weeks following surgery so have had time to play this again.

I can't believe it's taken me 100 hours to get around to completing "Ugly Baby". :o So much exploring and stuff to do, this game is crazy.

As for Kaer Morhem... I really like Lambert now, he's my fave witcher :D

The whole series of events at Kaer Morhen are brilliantly written and executed. Really enjoyed peeing off Yen and getting teleported above the lake and of course, had to annoy her again by trying to get some bitches in :D

Triss is far nicer than Yen IMO; Yen is a real cow.

BTW did they introduce scaling to some quests or something, because a few I've done that are below me were actually quite tricky. Or maybe I'm just really rusty.

I generally dislike these stupid "waifu wars", but Yen is much more interesting character and Geralt's true love, even if she can be abrasive and unpleasant at times. However she always has a reason for that. Geralt did some stupid/bad stuff to her. Calling her "real cow" is reductive and shortsighted.
