The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Despite buying the game at launch on PS4, and then getting it for free with my previous GPU, I've never actually got further than White Orchard.
I hope to break that trend, especially now that I've bought a Steam copy of the GOTY edition.
Having the game on my preferred platform will certainly help! (GOG left much to be desired!)

took me a while to get into tbh, i even comped the main game then came back to the expansions a few months later. Had the game since it came out and finally completed the last expansion a few weeks ago.

I basically had the same reaction to the game when I first a free copy when the PS4 launched.
I've only just gotten around to playing the game a bit more seriously this year and am getting quite into the little side plots and scale of the adventure.

I'd say it wasn't until Novigrad where I started to pay attention to what was going on in the story, most of what goes on before that stage didn't grab me as much.

You'll be grabbed more as you go along! I'm almost at a completion on the main mission, over 100 hours in. Can't wait to start the DLC.

I go in waves of how I play, some weeks I'll dip in and just find the points of interest, others I'll venture out and find side quests/contracts (which I've dried up on now). Others I try and find more witcher gear but it seems I've got to the end of that now.

At the moment, I'm going through a spurt of cracking on with the main story.

Having the difficulty on max and the option to have mobs scaled up to your level (I'm 33 at the moment) is hugely beneficial and makes the game a tad more challenging. Fighting is still very easy at this stage though.

I know this is horrible offtopic, but does the forum looks completely different to someone else ? Is there some thread where I can read about this change ?

Yes it's the big thread in General Discussion. They've moved to a new forum software...yes the theme is terrible but hopefully they can improve it.

Finally finished Dishonored 2 so I think I'll crack on with Blood & Wine. Quick question though, if I do, can I go back to earlier quests, eg. Hearts of Stone? Which I can't be arsed to finish but might want to in the future.

Yeah you can travel back to Velen. But you should finish Hearts of Stone first as Blood and Wine is the equivalent of "one last job" for Gerry.

Is there a blacksmith who can make me the Viper steel and silver sword? The dwarf in the first village won't and the only other one I've come across in Blackbough says I need to go to Novigrad but I don't have any travel locations there to go to. Do I just unlock fast travel there by manually going there? I assume it will also unlock automatically later in the game.

Yes you have to have been there before to be able to fast travel.

Hearts of Stone finished, and thusly all the content. What an incredible set of DLC's. Gaunter O'Dimm has to be one of the best characters and indeed a great addition to the Witcher cast that I've seen in ages. David Beckham (Olgierd) was also a worthy character of mention. In all honesty, the only game that had me in awe after I finished it was the Mass Effect series.
Gaunter though, the fact that he's been watching Gerald from the very beginning is very G-Man like and so spooky - http://kotaku.com/the-witcher-3-riddle-that-players-couldn-t-quite-solve-1747185043

I'm a bit late to the party, had this plus all DLC for a long time, but refused to touch it until I had completed the second one. I complete that a week ago, and I now find myself already 30 hours into this, it's absolutely amazing, I'm so hooked I'm now rationing myself as I know I'll be sad once it's all over. I think I can say it's the best looking game I've ever played.
