I've finally reached level 40 after 110 hours, and crafted myself the Viper School set. I've completed Hearts of Stone, and now I'm working on Blood and Wine in Toussaint. A lovely change of pace!

Started afresh this weekend. Playing without any mods and the game is as beautiful as I remember it.

Taking my time again, experiencing all the stories, exploring every nook and cranny and trying my hand at Gwent this time.

Bought myself an original artwork done in oil pastel and acrylic paint. The artist will be signing the piece at my request.

It should look good on my wall. ;)

Just picked this up with all the DLC... haven't played any of the series but looking forward to it...

Two quick questions - any essential mods or anything? (I got the impression that the game is perfectly good without any)...

Controller or KB + M? I've read that the gameplay and combat is more fluid with the dedicated buttons offered by KB + M, especially camera control in fights... sound reasonable?

Any other tips for getting the most out of the game? (No spoilers though please!)

M+KB all day for me.

Controller heretic here :p Xbox 1 controller worked fantastic. Could be a tad clunky in inventory, needing to shift through stuff, but for most the part, game play felt great.

Any tips for the game, yup, get down and play it :D Its amazing start from finish and envy you in that I wish I could play it again without knowing what is happening. The start may be a tad slow and at points overwhelming, but stick at it and its an awesome game.

Cool thanks! I'll probably start out with KB + M and then switch if I find it too clunky...

Is there much in the way of stuff you can miss, and if so how well telegraphed are points where you might be locking out certain questlines etc?

There is a bunch of mods that makes game better, or rather, some functions better. One would be No More Rolling Down Stairs, unless you like see Geralt tripping going down stairs (which to be honest, he does quiet a bit ! )

If you really want to get immersed in the game, i.e. not having the hud open all the time and giving you more control over it, then I would recommend you to look at Friendly Hud, personally I would not play without this one. Another mod that makes things bit easier is AutoLoot - AutoLoot The Items You Want, but be careful with the settings since if you looting chests etc around guards it is considered stealing. Personally I just use it for the plants. :p

If you end up using several mods, it be a good thing to also use Script Merger, to make sure they all working nicely together. Also, if you are going to mod the game up, might be worth having a look at the Unification Patch for 1.31 - 1.31 GOTY - 1.31A Game Versions (Upatched) - This mod basically makes the different versions compatible with each other since you have the GOTY version, GOG Version and those that bought the main game and then added the DLC's when they come out later. Just read the description to get more information. :)

Some other mods that I am using to make things a bit nicer are these:

Icon Text - Make lifes much easier in my opinion. :p
All Quest Objectives On Map - There is 3 different versions, read the description and pick what suits you.
Refill Alcohol Selection - The game automatically picks the cheapest Alcohol to reset your Potions, which is not always the best option though. You be getting tons of Dwarven Spirits so this mod will pick what you have the most of instead of the cheapest one.
Colored Map Markers - This one just to make it a bit easier when using the map to find things.
Corrected Sorting - In the vanilla game your stuff is bit all over the place in the backpack if you having more then 1 stack of things, this one make them stack next to each other.
Stack Your Items - makes your inventory less cluttery.

There is one point as part of the main campaign in which after you progress past that point, certain secondary quests that lock off. It is fairly obvious the point at which it happens as you get a notification about it.

i want to play it again too (completed the W3 4 times already)v but every conversation even side quests i can say their lines words for words. so can get wrapped up like i used too...
i wanted to do again but on Blood & Bones but it was still not much of a challenge. (not completed it mind)

the other reason is now my PC is hooked up to my 4K TV be nice to relax on the couch playing this. Shame no HDR support though. which CD projekt would recompile/Design a HDR colour gamut binary. would be a nice gift for their anniversary :)

And that is why I played on release, then waited year and a half before playing for second time, and my next full playthrough will be again in couple years, after I have forgotten a lot. Plus I will reread the books and replay first two games as well. Keeping it fresh.
Death March, always, btw :)

Can you list what mods you used?

Absolute must is Immersive Cam and its submods (motion, horse control) which improves controls and gives control over camera.
Then I have STLM 3.2, HD Reworked, Volumetric Clouds over Skellige.

I finally completed Witcher 3 after 133 hours! Blood and Wine was easily my favourite part of the game, and the ending was sublime! I finished at level 51 on Blood and Broken Bones difficulty. One of the best games ever made imo.

Only 133 hours? Dam.. you must have not seen a lot of side quests!. It took me 100 alone for the main game. Some of the quest appear by you listening in on conversation or by boat.

Or stupidly exploring. For example their a secret quest in the sewers novigrad. Behind a breakable wall. Most miss this one.
