The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

200 hours in, this game still has the ability to surprise me and make me smile:

And Keira's not even on the ship!

After watching the new God of War gameplay I felt the urge to play the Witcher 3 again, I'm downloading it right now.

What's the best way to replay it? I was thinking of trying a different build this time, a mix of sword and ranged and perhaps making other choices this time, being a "bad" witcher. Anything else to enjoy it at its fullest?

Also, when I finished the game I remember something about a Game+? It is a harder difficulty? Should I play this mode or start from scratch?

New game+ is excellent. I played it earlier this year. You basically start again but with all the skills you unlocked and all of the armour you had in your inventory at the end of the game. Plus all of the potions are already unlocked.

Loot does not become completely useless though as everything is still levelled, so for example, you might already have the Grandmaster Wolven armour, but you will be finding regular armour a few hours in to the game with better protection(but not bonuses). Also, the Witcher sets are still better versions too.

I think NG+ is a must for anyone who has already completed it. It is a better game.

PS- Before starting a NG+, put any gear you want to carry over in to the storage container

Have you got the 2 expansions? I decided to replay it recently but didn't get a chance to play through the expansions so that's given me new enthusiasm.

After 3 years of postponing it I am finally playing Dragon Age Inquisition. It is funny how CDP is now three for three when it comes to Witcher V Dragon Age. Origins were almost as good as the Witcher 1 (and I can understand people who prefer it over Witcher for various reasons), but then both TW2 and TW3 trounce Bioware's competition.

Particularly the sidequest design is just unbeliveably poor in Inquisition compared to TW3. It is pure fetchquest MMO-like fluff. Now, I still enjoy the game because I like the beautiful maps and quite enjoy the story and dialogue. But still...the difference is just so massive. I know Inquisition won lot of GOTY awards in 2014 (its biggest competition was Shadow of Mordor and Mario Kart), I wonder how many it would get if it came out three months later (against TW3, MGS5 and Fallout 4).

But it is not a bad game. And I hope Bioware will have learnt from it and make DA4's sidequest vastly better.

Inquisition wasn't a bad game, just had that same old tired Bioware formula. Good thing now is that the Witcher is going to heavily influence future titles.

I'm so excited that I will finally be able to play The Witcher 1 and 2 after Friday. I'm dying to see how all the characters in Witcher 3 are introduced in the first two games.

a lot of the characters arent, they are from the books. but yeah you are lucky . wish i could have a blind run thru again. epic stuff!

Just finished this, credits rolling as I type.

Now do I play the DLC or start a NG+ and then the DLC?

Can’t think of another game I’ve played where I’ve actually felt as invested in the characters as I have in this. The fact I’m even contemplating starting over again says it all really.

Epic game.

ideally, heart of stone during main campaign and blood and wine after you finished the main story. It flows the best that way imo.

failing that, just do HoS then B&W now.

Cheers. Think I might just start a new game from scratch and do as suggested but with a load of mods this time. Not sure I need to do NG+.

Is there a mod to stop the ridiculous "trees bending in the wind" effect? Really annoyed me during the first chapter, and I haven't played since opening up the next areas.

no harm in using ng+, i haven't myself but people say its great. and loot etc scales so you wont be stuck with the same stuff all the way thru

Just finished W2 doing Roche path and saving the daughter, also let the rude King live this time and so did Letho, but not the Sorcerers. Was planning doing Scoia'tael and Iorveth's path but think that be for another time. Going to replay W3 now and was wondering if you guys got any mod recommendations ?? I know a couple straight off that I be using. No more rolling down the stairs, that was something that irked me a little first time around. :p Also wghost81 Friendly Hud mod. But anything else I be open for suggestions ?? Ohh and I be using the recommended Witcher 3 Mod Manager for the mods too.

Been thinking of buying this for ages as I see it has a good following.

So

A: is it still worth buying nowadays/Is another due out soon?
B: Can it be played in VR?

It is still worth buying yes. I have it on GOG but still bought another copy on Steam as well. And no, there will most likely not be a Witcher 4. If there is a Witcher coming it will not be about Geralt anyway, from what I read.
Can not be played in VR as of now, not sure about the future though.

Witcher 3 does not support VR out of the box, but you can play pretty much every game in VR with 3rd party software. Witcher 3 was actually a very good experience in VR when I played it, although I won't explain how to do it as it can be a royal pain to setup and mileage may vary from peoples setups.
