The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Ah I should have known, the Steam version loads "RED Launcher" when you run the game just like with Cyberpunk, at least it closes before the game actually loads...

The TV series was really good and formed the basis of why I ended up getting the game. Probably would have skipped it otherwise had I not been exposed to the characters on the show.

Same for me really. I enjoyed the TV series and then ended up playing through the game and both expansion packs! Some parts I was confused about such as past character relations etc but on the whole I enjoyed the game very much. :D

Any idea roughly how many books there are, and best place to buy them?
I read the books three times, first time when I was 13, so yeah I have some idea..

8 books in total, first two are made of short stories and serve as prequels to the novel saga, which has 5 books. Then there is one extra book that takes place in between two of the short stories, but should really be read last due to its epilogue.
Games take place few years after the last novel book.

I didn't read the books in english though, so cannot vouch for the quality of translation.

I would find the show decent - like 6/10 - if I never read the books. But it was supposed to adapt them, and does horrible job of it - to the point where Henry Cavill, huge Witcher book/game fan, decided to leave the project. And no wonder.

TV series is terrible if you are a Witcher fan before the series came out, Henry cavill who played geralt perfectly and is a big fan of the franchise couldn't stomach what the TV series was.
Books are brilliant and I listed to them on audible. Witcher games are amazing, wish I could play them again without remembering everything. All well I'm quite excited about Witcher 4 despite cdprojeckts recent track record.

After 5hrs, no crash today. I can confirm, my issue was frame generation with GOG overlay. With the GOG overlay enabled, id crash every time within 5 mins.

I totally forgot how much I liked the gfx style of this game, especially the dreamy colours at sunset etc. Now with a great hdr implementation, its even more beautiful, with raytracing adding the cherry :)

I think I fixed my crash issues by simply verifying the game files in the gog config settings after the update (which I hadn't done). Not 100% sure it's totally sorted as I've not played that much, but before doing this it crashed about every 10 minutes.

Regarding the 'colours' of this game - pre and post patch I've always found them to be far too saturated by quite a long way to be honest (this was on an IPS screen back in the day and now on OLED). I've started making a reshade which for the moment is just focusing on tweaking the saturation way down, but vibrance up, and using various reshade sharpening filters as the in built settings I find to be rubbish with DLSS - Low does nothing and high is too high and a poor implementation.

Unfortunately verify files didn't work for me. It would fix a problem where I wouldn't be able to get past the title screen due to a previous crash.
I underclocked cpu and gpu etc in troubleshooting, then tried turning off the overlay and voila!
Haha each to their own :) it's the oversaturation I like. A nice step away from realism, which I also do appreciate.
