The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Those having crashing issues with MSI Afterburner, delete that DX12onnDX11 dll file, RTSS/MSIAB can't hook onto the API properly when playing in DX12 due to the way the API is wrapped over DX11 - CDPR supposedly fixed it in the last hotfix but seems some still have issues. Unless you are on an old version of Afterburner of course which doesn't report some CPU metrics correctly, install the latest beta for best compatibility.

It's actually become considerably better experience for me on a 3080 Ti since the last patch and now of course that RT optimised file (Quality version). DLSS 3440x1440 and Ultra+ I'm constantly 60fps (capped) and 16ms latency outside of Novigrad and an almost flat frametime graph. It actually feels and plays like a polished game aside from the actual game bugs like "ghost" fisherman boats like shown above. It's come to a point where I have zero issue with performance really, still wish for them to patch multithreaded optimisation for the CPU, but for now relying on single core12th gen performance is carrying me along fine which allows a stable 60fps.

This remains the only game that I have played where DLSS Performance seems to have zero visual difference vs DLSS Quality, whilst the fps is increased as a result.

My only issue is that the amount of things to do on the map can be overwhelming, so many question marks, and more appear the more you explore and find notes and contracts or map hints to explore locations etc.

Even in dense forests? Kinda doubt. Unless that RT optimization mod really does miracles.
60fps even in dense forests.

I will record some gameplay as proof after Netflix. There are no screen text issues as my screenshots to date have shown.

Edit*

ok so in that session a few minor dips but nominal fps is in the 50-60 range easily. you get the idea.

Advice has always been to turn off undiscovered POIs on the minimap and just come across them naturally.. feels far less overwhelming then.

I kinda like them on as feel the need to then go explore and see what's over there. Currently the Elgar caves where there are 3 sets of Wolf Witcher gear to be found after finding a note telling of their location., looked on the map and it's the north most area which I have not gone to yet, so assume this is later in the story, nice bit to look forward to!

Also trying to find the elf in Velen that the outfitter in novigrad told me is the best armour smith in the land.

I had issues 2 issues with frame gen. Screen tearing with vsync and Gsync + crashes within 5 mins.

I fixed the tearing by turning off in game Gsync, and enabled it in the nvidia game profile.
I fixed the crashes by turning off GOG game overlay. 30hrs later 0 crashes.
Thank you that has solved my crashing. Turned off gog game overlay and now plays great using frame generation.

People are reporting more stuttering/frame rate drops with the latest NVIDIA GeForce 528.02 drivers, so I'm going back to the previous set.

FSR2 not quite as good as DLSS in this game I find. Does okay to be fair and playable with RT on at UW 1440p with a controller at least :p

Yeah, these introduced some stuttering for me (using DLSS3 with a 4090), so I’ve gone back to the December drivers which were running fine.

I've now reached the point where I can start the DLC and accidentally started the first mission by killing that giant beast. The DLC definitely has a more vibrant and detailed artstyle, so am looking forward to jumping back in but right now I have to level up more, currently 21, and also chasing sorceress tale
