Time to jump back and see!

Edit*

CPU usage is way up now! The Novigrad central area is still lower fps but everywhere else in Novigrad it's 60+ - But the central bit is still high 40s low 50s so this is still improved vs the low 40s of pre-patch.

This is great stuff.

Upper Novigrad when you get higher it's 80fps+ which means all other areas of the map will be 80+ too with Ultra+ everything and RT enabled. nice.

And on that note...

INCOMING

@wunkley

Cheers for the heads up, sounds promising! Will try in a bit but servers must be hammered on GOG as the update is taking ages...

Update - just done a v quick test. Not scientific but using same settings as before (dx12 with full ray tracing, settings mostly high and ultra, ultrawide 4k (3840x1620), DLSS performance - and there's a definite improvement!

It's not ball bouncingly better, but is better.....

- Hierarch square (the killer area): now running low 40's to 50fps. Before was high 30's to low 40's
- Other parts of Novigrad: Is very variable. Now anything from low 40's to mid 60's. Before was 50 max I think
- Out in the wilder areas: Now running anything from 60-80. Berfore was 60 at best.

This is on a 3090, i7 11700, 32GB fast DDR4 by the way.

Most importantly, for me anyway, the general frame pacing seems to be improved. Before I was having to use custom refresh rates and lock frames with RTSS to around 40 or 45 for consistency. Now it feels like I can just let my screen run at 120Hz and let Gsync do its thing.

It's a decent update and hopefully there will be more. Whilst welcome, it still ****** me off in many ways - why didn't they do this 3 months ago i.e. when this fabled next gen update was released. Release it how it should have been! The state of PC gaming at the moment is still a joke.

All-in-One RT Performance Tweaks:

I have released my mod updates to version 1.2 to be compatible with patch 4.02. Still with the mod, performance is higher than 4.02, by about 20%. No need to use RTXGI Unclocker anymore, more details in mod description above.

Still an odd memory leak in the game though!

Loaded game 60fps in the City, walked down the street and the frame rate drops. Go back to the same place I was before now its 36fps. Quit game, reload 60fps again... Starts dropping once more

Seems like I picked a good time to try this game again.

How does it play with a pad, fine? Been a long time since I played, 3 years according to GoG but I feel I only loaded it up and ducked out
