The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I beleive thats a PC (I imagine) vs PS4 comparison, no? Look at the button prompts in the bottom right corner of the 2015 image. I assume the outrage is from console fans who expected glory from their relatively inferiour hardware choice.

I have played none of these games but am looking forward to blowing through them all during the summer break. So much so that I visited CD Projekt while in Poland recently. Really cool studio!

The 2013 and 2014 versions of the game they showed do not exist anymore, on any platform.

I've just been playing a bit of The Witcher 1 to get warmed up for Tuesday - IMO it still looks pretty good, particularly for a game which is 8 years old!

I wonder if TW3 will still look as good comparatively in 2023? ;)

how are people playing it already? can you use vpn to unlock it early or something

No one is playing it apart from console owners who got a copy from shops early and you tube streamers who were given permission my CDPR and keys to allow them to stream and play it early for review purposes.

Witcher 1 holds up very well but a couple of mods will make it even better if you are not already using them:

Pretty much what I use on my playthroughs, none affect the vanilla game.

Weirdest thing about the graphics is the wind effect for vegetation. It looks absolutely awful - as if the plants and trees and shrubs are having epileptic fits. It looks like a comedy mod. Surely they're going to patch this ... it completely spoils the immersion?

I think it's time to put the past aside and think about what we're about to get.
So far that means an open world RPG which has received pretty awesome reviews.

I'm also quite disappointed, but it's time to step back from a few old videos and remember why I was refreshing Amazon's store last year to secure a Collector's Edition (it was a new Witcher, that's all I needed).

The only real problem I see with the graphics is that the grass looks a bit rubbish, lol.

Other than that I'm sure it'll be just as or even more brilliant than the first two. Quite looking forward to it!

I remember watching the early gameplays and thinking it looked amazing, but tbh rewatched them after all the moaning and the frame rate etc is terrible, obviously it was early on but surely the change was part of the optimization so we could actually play it at an acceptable rate.

Clearly this is the case.

It is all very well ramping up insane levels of eye candy for cinematic trailers but to have a functioning smooth playing RPG game looking like that...well, frankly GPU tech just aint there yet. If it was, then it that is how the game would look either on Ultra settings or via some high grade texture pack.

I don't buy the idea for a minute that CD Projekt Red have taken backhanders to downgrade the PC version in order not to make the console versions less appealling. Pure nonsense on toast.

The game will be awesome and look and play miles better than any other RPG no matter what.

Wasn't it Crysis Warhead which had it's top settings initially removed making it look worse than Crysis?

Didn't a massive patch then fix that.

Well I've had a go of witcher 2 this weekend as I've got 3 on pre order. Not really into it much tbh from the 2 hours I played. I can never remember what each symbol does for your powers and I think the fighting is a bit clunky. Also spent half the time just watching cut scenes.

Does it get better? Any tips how to get into it?
