The Witcher - Enhanced Edition

so is the combat a bit more involving that 1/ 2/ whatever clicks of the mouse?

thats about the only thing that will get me to try this game again. :)

I never understood why people said this, that's just the combo system. Aside from that you can change combat styles to match the type and number of opponents, perform dodges and rolls, and cast signs.

Much more to combat than "clicking a few times", though admittedly it's your typical hack-and-slash affair. Not sure what else people expected considering this is a hack-and-slash RPG through and through.

Agreed. The combat system is no less involved than KotoR and other similar RPGs of its kind. I find it works fine if you play on hard and have to time the attacks manually without the animated pointer to help you :)

Aye if you play on harder difficulty you have to use audio/visual cues and guesswork.

so i thought i'd download the patch, give the game another go, now waiting "up to 2 hours" for game file modification. hope this is worth it. :)

I think the problem with the combat is that the combo is the same animation but it just repeats over and over again. I could do it infinitely if I wanted to. Its sometimes hard to tell if I am doing a combo, and I'm not entirely sure what the benefits of doing it are.

The animation changes as you increase your sword skills, but you seem to have overlooked things like stunning your opponent which gives you the opportunity to perform an extremely gory fatality. ;)

I also refer you back to the point I made about this being hack and slash. :p

Fair enough, I guess it might have helped if I had read the manual.:o

The kill animations, and the increase in their awesomeness the more skilled you got, was one of the best things I remember from my first playthrough. Just brilliant.
