theHunter: Call of the Wild

Nice, but i see the paid dlc has started, i thought they was not going down that route they said, as we paid full price for game, and not pay to play, a lot of people upset, especially as a tent/hide should be in a hunting game anyway, i will be putting people off buying this game if this continues, next were see paid dlc for animals to be hunted.

Came over a small crest to find this:

Bagged this:

Nothing special but it was the furthest kill until a few moments later when I got a female at 391m.

was a little puzzled about the dlc myself.the tents are actually very good and so are the ground blinds.

nice shot leuven

Thanks :)

I essentially stopped playing the original hunter mainly because I didnt like the subscription/season pass type side of it. (Aswell as less spare time)

Whilst I hope this doesn't turn into a DLC fest, I don't actually mind the odd small extra here and there if I feel it adds something to the game for me, and helps keep them in business and able to keep making games in the future, if it doesn't then I won't buy it.
Sometimes DLC can increase the longevity of a game to stop it getting tiresome.

Does anyone else find that they are trying to exit the game after their last hunt only for another call/animal appears that you just have to finish before you go?
For times last night I said to myself "right, this is the last one now" :D only to carry on and be on for another half an hour or so.

I'm going to buy me a tent and start to move away from the starter lake!

Don't care about a few pennies for a tent when this is such a great game (and it only cost me £20) day one.

I didn't have a problem with it either, but after buying the pack I then discovered that you still have to buy it in-game for 26000! That's a bit of a ripoff tbh! With all the other stuff that I should be buying to get better, I just don't see how a tent fits in with that at the start. My rifle sucks, my lures are rubbish, and then there's the cost of ammo as well. Harvesting an animal gets you anywhere between 500 - 1100 on the smaller game and to get the bigger game you need the better guns. The cost for a tent is a bit crazy.

Whilst I agree that it feels like a kick in the teeth about the ingame costs, especially after paying for it as DLC, I was thinking recently how much of a grind it is just to buy stuff but I'm more and more starting to appreciate it in the fear of not bothering to fire the game up if I had everything unlocked already.

if you get a decent gun and find areas where a lot of animals are you can earn probably 30,000 in a hr.if you shoot accurately and pick your animals.

gunna have a few hrs on it later . great for chilling.

Oh.... Didn't know that!

Yeah I like how I can just "camp out" on a rock or something and wait for ages killing time and waiting for something to happen but doesnt get boring. Shows how engrosing and maybe just how realistic it feels?

Would you say it's a good idea to spend a few hours legging it around the maps unlocking the lodges, info and lookout towers to get the money/xp?
I've done it a few times but get distracted by something.

If you get to a spot where there are no animals around, if you just wait, will animals appear eventually ? without making calls ? like build a hide and just wait.
In my experience when it's at your favourite place then it's probably going to take a very long time if it does, it's only really worked if theres signs/tracks in the near vicinity, even then it takes a while.
On the flip side, I've just had 3 attempts to type this message... no 4 attempts because every time I stop to type, another deer/fox etc appear within reach.
Kill, go to claim trophy, another appears, pause to type, another sound is heard, turn round and two frmales appear to carry on with what they were doing.
I think theres the sheer randomness and time of day that tip the balance too.

Edit: Im sitting here waiting to track and claim a kill but dont want to frighten the two female red deer away so im now camping out where they seem to need to come back to.

Ah sounds good, you use the callers much to attract them ?

I only have the callers for roe deer, whitetail deer, coyote/red fox and the antlers one, and I never really go around using them to attract, it's probably around 80/90% usage in a response to the animals initial call.
But when I do hear a call, I'll try to get in a nearby elevated position or at least good visibilty and call back a few times, (once every 90 seconds approx)
they will either make their way over after the fist 2 or 3 calls or not bother, sometimes with responses, sometimes without and they will just appear out of nowhere sometimes, that's why patience and minimal sound and even movement too is key once you know they are nearby
saying that though it would seem that more kills (or at least opportunities) happen as a result of stumbling upon a good area after tracking and claiming a kill.

I don't think of myself as being good at hunting but I think the more hours you put in you just get naturally better without even realising it and things get slightly easier and come more naturally as time goes on.
Plus the perks/skill help a little too.
