Because you were told more than once.

It's not the point.
The point is, you're inexperienced, don't start off with high-end gear.. My first graphics card was a 9500GT last year, then a 9600GT, then a 4870x2, now a 5870.

There is no reason why he should bung in a crappy gpu for his first card that will probably be useless for gaming. At the most he should not buy from ebay. I don't think its even his first card anyway. Some people seem to think because he does not know about different brands of gpu's and where they are built that auto matically makes him a noob with a pc. My mate builds pc's but often asks me for advice on what gpu to get next.

SO IF I WAS TOLD THEN WHY DIDNT IT GET LEFT. WHY DO PEOPLE JUMP ON BAND WAGON.

Because the Ebay seller even told you..

If you don't know the hardware you're investing in, how can you be sure it'll work?

My point being, you learn from experience ;)

My dad warned me i would get good advice and then people would start to slate me. may have to think twice before i ask anything else on here, kinda put me off. Their was no need.

I took my GPU core from 850 to 1050.. I think that's pretty massive.

thats impressive fella. was it stable at 1050? is your card air cooled or water?

i can't get my card past 900 lol 850 is default. anything above that and games start to crash although CCC pass's the test. i have no problems with temp either, its standard cooler and its idle @ 46 and load can reach 60 but does not go above 55 a lot fan is also on default i have not set it to a certain percentage/

i'm thinking perhaps because yours is 2x gpu, it sort of has less stress on it making it stable. anyone shed some light? lol

I thought this would've been closed by now - before it does I'll relate a tale of my own noobishness...

My first gfx card purchase was a Voodoo3 3000, the bloke in EB asked me if I was sure I had an AGP slot, I just said yeah because I wanted to get it home and start playing Half-Life with hardware rendering. I sheepishly returned it the same day and got the PCI version. The guy even had it waiting for me on the counter.

TheRealDeal this is my first pc. I know i little about lots of things i pick it up while watching my bro build his pc's. but not to the point where and what goes into graphic cards. in some way i wish i never started this

I used the MSI tool, and I'm using a 5870, cba changing my sig. And yeah, it was stable, at 1070MHZ, I could only get two runs in Crysis before crash

well that does happen on here, if you don't watch what you say, and learn quick I found that out, but I learnt, somethings you can expalin yourself out of somethings its best if you walk away, from the thread...I seen what happens if one digs a too big of a hole and they can't get out of it.

yeah, maybe you should have asked before you comited yourself on the bay...

we do cater for noobs but you have to learn quick and don't say anything that you really shouldn't do

To be fair, I apologise if you felt I was one of the people "ripping into you".
But, it's just it annoys me when people spend on high end equipment, but have limited knowledge.

it's people like martin1991 that rec's this place you should be band.

.......

I see our resident "expert on gfx cards at birth" are on how about this if you have nothing positive to say or helpful don't comment and stroll to your next thread there was no need to have a go at the guy he was just asking. Xig you will probably be absolutely fine with the card and it looks to be exactly what was advertised so wait till you get it and then come back if you have any problems spend enough time here and you will quickly learn the people you pay attention to and the many that you ignore :).
