This is why people are losing respect for the police...

I'm not sure of if this is true or not. But with the media trying to manipulate the story, is it true a person, possibly of a Muslim background, turned up at the vigil in Southport with a machete?

I've seen an image of the guy being arrested by the police. But this incident seems to be getting very little coverage.

So what is the deal with that guy?

There’s reports now that he was just a tanned EDL member looking to riot with a knife. He’s got a full chest piece which isn’t exactly Islamic is it.

Reports where? Anything of actual substance or the usual sort of twitter rumour rubbish that could be anywhere from completely true to totally fictional?

Didn’t the EDL disband years ago?
I was about to say? All this talk about the EDL, they virtually don't exist any more, and Cooper going to ban an organisation that has been defunct for years is akin to banning The Third Reich! It's not going to make a blind bit of difference to the ongoing violence, it's just showboating to that Labour can say they did something.

The same kind of things that reported he was a knifey Muslim man headed to stab people at the vigil. There’s been very little substance throughout, but if people are going to post rubbish to try and justify the far right rioting in self defence then it’s only fair it’s rubbish is countered with equal random speculation.

the vigil held by locals happened earlier in the evening. the crowd yelling at starmer and the protest later in the evening that instantly became what we saw was a separate event, organised and promoted by members and leaders of PA. died in the wool full costume, nazi tattoos, saluting fascists. got a photo of at least one known member from east midlands there. others from wales, and midlands promoting.

Also anectodes from locals about how it all died down right before the last train back to liverpool. strange for locals to do that. It was ****** up gammon, not from southport. whipped into a frenzy by PA, Farage, muppets on gbeebies, Tommy Robinson (kills me everytime. dude chose his own name and went with a danny dyer character...what a child), and an overall lack of understanding about journalism and crime.

As for the guy arrested with a knife. that happens at damn near every protest. folks carry knives. I read it was everything from a pocket knife to a machete. why has it not been reported widely. Because that **** happens all the time. cops search folk at protests.

Or we could try to get people not to not post rubbish in the first place, rather than try to out rubbish each other

It's crazy how normalised knife crime has became, that we just accept people carry knives.

I'm surprised people aren't rioting
Would you rather have a knife or not if someone is chasing you with a machete?

The logic is self-fulfilling if you're in that community.

Yeah, it disbanded around 10 years ago.
I’m so glad we’re in safe hands with politicians who’ve got their fingers on the pulse of the nation.
Clowns.

The Southport thread was closed and you were told that if there were any new developments a new thread will be opened in SC. Anybody continuing to discuss the incident in here will be banned from this thread.

Knife crime and the carrying of knives hasn’t been normalised a certain tiny subset of criminals carry them much like a certain tiny subset train bully xl’s to be horrible.

Violent crime in the uk is mercifully incredibly low and the chances of a normal member of society being involved in a knife incident are vanishingly small so let’s not get carried away.

It certainly feels normalised now. I’ll stand and bang with anyone but I’m way way way more conscious that if they are skinny little universal credit mouth breathers I’ve got to properly put them down if they start reaching for anything in their pockets or trousers. This wasn’t something I used to be conscious of when dealing with people, it is now.

I don’t remember 20 years ago machete fights in London being a daily thing.
