This is why people are losing respect for the police...

Just the odd bad apple.. 40K officers in Met , so 1 in 40 has had an allegation, is that greater than rest of population ? even though you'd expect to hold them to higher standards

?

domestic abuse, alone, reported by women seems 1 in 50.

  • The number of police recorded domestic abuse-related crimes in England and Wales rose 6% in the year ending March 2021 to 845,734; this follows increases seen in previous years and may reflect improved recording by the police alongside increased reporting by victims.
  • The police made 33 arrests per 100 domestic abuse-related crimes in the year ending March 2021; the same as in the previous year (in the 38 police forces that supplied complete data in both years).
  • The number of cases discussed per 10,000 adult females at multi-agency risk assessment conferences (MARACs) rose to 46 compared with 43 in the previous year.

I work in a School with close to 200 staff. Are you saying there is a good chance that 4 or more of them, taking your average of 1-40 are potentially predators not yet caught?

And I wager that a vast percentage of those 'domestic abuse' cases will turn out to be nothing more than the neighbours phoning the police due to a loud argument.
IIRC in the US a scary number of police when asked will admit to some form of domestic abuse, i can't remember the percentage but it's in double digits so I can quite see it being a relatively high number here, despite the fact we do tend to treat it more seriously and have (despite mistakes/lapses) much better vetting of police than the US.

Would hardly surprise me considering at the very top they likely know all the naughty goings on of the country's morally vacuous business leaders/politicians and figure if they can get away with it (Cyril Smith being a principle example) then so can they. This then follows down the chain to employing the similarly deranged power-hungry individuals and the services starts falling apart.

govt link stats say 1 in 50 women undergoing risk assessment for domestic violence, so if we believe perpetrators were unique, too .. then yes 4 people / 200 staff are implicated - on average.
with the number of children 400 staff would imply , big safeguarding liability there too - I imagine ?
