This is why people are losing respect for the police...

If you're in any job and someone has an inappropriate nickname known by many of his colleagues, then the chances are he's a wrong 'un.

I wish we could bring back public flogging for these people. Mainly for the public humiliation of it.

What is it about the met that they have so many rapey officers.

''Met Police knew of previous allegations

Following his guilty pleas, the Met Police confirmed Carrick "had come to the attention of the Met and other forces on nine occasions prior to October 2021".

They included allegations of rape, domestic violence, and harassment between 2000 and 2021 but he faced no criminal sanctions or misconduct findings.''

It's just sickening.

The police have apologised for missing repeated red flags so everything's ok.

I do feel very sorry for the genuine police people as this just makes their job even harder.

That's what I find the most frustrating thing. The repeated red flags. Not one. Repeated. It just stinks of incompetence and complete apathy towards potential victims. You can bet nobody will be held to account though.

I think it is almost like it can be the perfect profession to hide that kind of behaviour.

He apparently told one of his victims that they would never be believed, simply because he was a police officer.

They also get to stroke their egos, and needs, and feelings for control and dominance.

A bit like child abusers will choose professions along the lines of teachers or foster carers, etc, to get close to their victims.

They ought to announce who Carrick had worked for, who had ignored the earlier warnings - even the new head of the Met Rowley was in it for 7 years in senior positions,
blaming Dick for much of this sounds misplaced.

I don't feel the UK Police should be tarnished because one guy who joined committed horrible crimes. It's not like you can realistically fire someone over unproven allegations or suspicion. This can happen in any profession, clearly there needs to be some improved processes and they need to figure out how they can handle these things better, but I'm sure everyone who works with him is absolutely horrified.
