Thorney Motorsport

Blimey. Interestingly though this thread contains no text at all by the guy in question, simply a link to another forum. One wonders if he read the thread?

It's such a shame that the whole modifying/ tuning scene has turned into what it is today - garages/ tuners promising the earth, big money being exchanged, substandard goods, lawsuits flying all-ways. It's pathetic - nobody seems to have any pride in their work any more.

It isn't the first and won't be the last time this happens. :(

Mr John Thorne threatened us with legal action today and demanded we make an apology post, the text of which he kindly provided and insisted we make a sticky for "not less than 30 days".

Here is the email he sent us :-

We replied saying if he had something to say he was welcome to put his side of the story in this thread.

a perfectly fair reply :)

Awesome Spie, awesome.

I don't understand why Mr Thorne doesn't realise that threatening legal action instead of resolving customer complaints is a surefire way to gain a terrible reputation (especially when his claims are completely unfounded )

Excellent response Mark. I cannot believe that after such poor service he is digging himself a massive hole. Does he not appreciate that most of the time the customer is always right, even in the slight chance he is wrong, the costs to make them happy is much less than all this he is going through now.

Sounds like a dodgy outfit run by some fresh yardies in Bradford.

Rotty was it you who used to have a CSL? If so, was the wiring anything like that on the Thorney website?
I thought the issue the customer had with the wiring is that the insulation had been stripped on some of the cables and was shorting out on the car. Can't find the original photo now but pretty sure you could clearly see missing insulation off a number of cables..

I am guessing that is what he is referring to when he says it is dangerous, and also why he didn't spot it straight away (it's not something that would be immediately noticeable).

I don't think the issue has ever been about the cable 'mess', and TMS posting up pictures of a standard M3 loom is pretty pointless

Edit: I recall now - he said the feeds to the relays were bare and shorting out on the metal work, obviously causing a fire risk. I think his claim is pretty fair to be honest!

I really can see this backfiring bigtime for Thorney now, I can't imagine his sponsors will be impressed one bit with this apparent bullying of enthusiast forums. If I was less lazy I'd be inclined to write to Macmillan Cancer Support and Tesco to express my concerns about who exactly they are supporting or associating themselves with.

Well done to Spie for (rightly) leaving the thread here and posting the email from the guy. If he had any legitimate concerns then he can report individual posts rather than make such ridiculous demands.
