Thorney Motorsport

Screw making the apology a sticky! We should make this thread a sticky so new and old forum members know where not to go if any modifications or work are needed for their cars.

haha epic response spie :D

He might feel big when hes taking on forums run by individuals but as said allready perhaps he has bitten off more than he can chew.

We replied saying if he had something to say he was welcome to put his side of the story in this thread.

Spie, DON'T!!!!!

He's going to sue you and each of us for...... erm... something.......... possibly whiplash.... or.... errrrrrm................... having bad hair???????

Why would he be taking legal action against MB Tech? Surely it should only be his customer? Surely the fact that the customer owns that garage is totally irrelevant?

Me thinks Thorney protests too much. His reaction has been a PR disaster, what he sould have done is simply STFU and allowed the matter to turn to vapour, but he's stoked the fire now and it's going to get ugly.

Although, on the plus side I might sell more cyber liability insurance to companies with websites/web & forums by using this scenario as a claims example. Every cloud has a silver lining. :p

all companies make mistakes. what distinguishes a good company from a bad one is how they remedy the mistake.

in this case "putting aside £50k" for a libel claim rather than resolving the product/service issue in any way at all.

FAIL

Threatening to sue the likes OCUK and other owners clubs must be a really bad way of doing business, but the certainly the best way of alienating your entire customer base.

Courtney Sport it is for the VX now :D

How much better would it have looked if he had said "we're putting aside £50k to compensate some of our customers and to remedy whatever problems they're having".

I would have been seriously impressed by that. But no, he chose to go the route of bullying his customers and now i would guess that he has lost a large percentage of his customer base, absolutely destroyed his reputation and in doing so, severely damaged his business.

Well done Mr Thorne, i hope it was worth it.

Its not even a well written letter and to start it with WITHOUT PREDUJICE just stinks of ameteurish tactics.....

Talking of badly written, I still can't understand the first sentence :
We’ve now time to receive detailed legal advice on this matter.

I'm guessing that's just poorly written rather than some legal 'jargon'.

It's in the interest of future customers that they are aware of things like this.

I didn't know TMS controlled the right to free speech, clearly he's a Labour party supporter....

I'm please that Spie hasn't taken a knee jerk reaction to this e-mail because quite clearly TMS hasn't got a leg to stand on, like Merlin said if TMS had left this alone the issue might have gone away, but now its all over the place and due to this threat to sue websites and ISP's (lol) hes dug a hole that not even Chuck Norris could get out of.
