Thrones of Britannia - A Total War Saga

I will be totally honest ever since empire total war I have never really been interested in total war games. Thrones of Britannia is another one of them meh total war games with a tiny map and limited diplomacy options. I really would love another game like empire big and expansive and not dumbed down for the masses.

Yeah same thing with CK2 after I bought it last year. It killed Total War and Stelaris forever, making them very shallow strategy games. Still I will buy the Three Kingdoms because I like China, but not TWW3 etc.

Only HOI IV comes close to that strategy addiction, but is very limited game unfortunately (HOI IV).

(Unfortunately never got to EU4 from the Demo).

Mate you really have to give EU4 another go. It's on offer on steam atm, get the biggest bundle you can afford. It's almost a different game now with all the DLC. So satisfying and deep. 2500 hours and I'm still learning!

I know, on PDX shop is £65 with all DLCs until May 2017 (basically everything but Rule Britannia, Cradle of Civilization and Third Rome).
And the package I want, having it in the basket, goes for £33 including base game, Art of War & Common Sense (which are mandatory expansions), Conquest of Paradise and Res Publica because I want to play native Americans (Incas, etc) and Merchant Republics.

So yes dithering between the two :/ Thoughts?

Edit. Due to some bundling with extra discount on Steam, for £35 can get Rights of Man also. huh.

OK, just spent £42 and bought the following -_-

Base game,
Art of War, Common Sense, Rights of Man bundle.
Les Republica
El-Dorado bundle,
Conquest of Paradise bundle.

Good bye life..........

Superb, you wont regret it! Well, you might if you lose your partner, family, and job... :D

:)

Also waiting to see whats the new PDX game that will be announced tomorrow at PDXCon....... Bets are off....
But more likely SPQR (Rome 2) because of the teaser hints... like

8- Tomorrow its time for the bard!
7- There is no Norway on the map.
6- Religion is present, but not the most important aspect.
5- The amount of each goods produced is important.
4- Spelling the name of the game is rather easy.
3- There will be minorities.
2- Johan Andersson is the gamedirector and designer of this game.
1- Is it popular demand?

And this picture....

I've seen more gameplay of this game it looks better than I had thought I'm more interested in the game. I'm not sure what it is but for me gunpowder total wars are my favourite I mentioned before how much of a fanboy of empire total war with darthmod I am :D.

I was gifted it, it's OK I would say, feels a little empty strategically, although I do like not having any of the Agents nonsense to have to deal with, the recruitment pool and recruiting units at 20 odd percent is quite novel as well and works well. There is a little lack of variety across unit types in the rosters but that is the nature of Early Mediaeval warfare anyway.

It's not a bad game just not quite worth the asking price at the moment.

One nice bonus was I seemed to have also got an ebook copy of the Osprey Publishing Combat Series book on Viking Warrior vs Anglo-Saxon Warrior with the game :D
