Tired of Panel Lottery, suggestions

It really shouldn't be like this, especially when you consider the pricetags on some of them.

Buying a new monitor can be a very stressful experience.

Instead of looking forward to firing up your new purchase, you are filled with dread and anxiety as you look for defects.

Unfortunately I was a bit dim when buying it from the *********************. Got it from an Italian seller so has an Italian warranty.

ASUS UK won't touch it and said try ASUS Italy who won't touch it either as need an Italian address to be able to send a RMA and told me to try ASUS UK :(

You would think ASUS UK would make an exception, but wouldn't budge at all.

Not sure about mentioning other retailers but.....

You should really take a look at the "file an A-to-z Guarantee claim" as the retailer you mentioned has a responsibility, not just the seller.

Point taken tho, always check who the seller is when buying from there.

These days I am very careful where I order a monitor from.

It needs to be a retailer with a good return policy.

I purposely bought my Samsung cf791 from a local store with no quibble return policy.

Just in case...

Tried that, but they rejected it saying it's a RMA issue. Really long back and forth with them where I unsuccessfully argued there should have been a warning on the store page about warranties not being enforceable in the UK if you buy from a non-UK seller and that I had essentially bought a warranty-free monitor. Still wouldn't budge.

My fault for not paying attention to who the seller was I suppose and just clicking buy.

Oh well, won't make that mistake again.

Unfortunately this is a big issue with the rainforest. It doesn't always default the product to a UK seller.

I feel your pain over this :(

That was the exact monitor on my shortlist until.....

That is grim indeed and serves as a dire warning.

That was my thought as well, I have a Ti1080.

But it is also the colour shift issue as you can see from that video. I did prefer the look of the other gaming panel tho.....
Samsung LU32H850UMUXEN 32-Inch UHD 4K Gaming Monitor

......as noted the BenQ I'm using seem pretty good, especially for the cost from the warehouse deals.

How do you find running Nvidia on the CF791? Do you think you miss the adaptive sync element or not?

To be honest, I have never seen or used a monitor running gsync or freesync so I can't really comment.

I never really notice tearing so I guess it wouldn't make much difference to me. But I know some people swear by it.

The 100hz is nice though.

The Samsung screen does look nice, just preferred the styling of the other noted.

I do think that the 60hz refresh rate for 4k and my chosen eye candy settings even with a Ti1080 is good enough.

I do like the remote puck controller you get with the monitor.

Goodness knows why they use HDMI 1.4 only on the Acer 32" 4k.

Yeah I sold my 1440p when I got my 1080Ti for 4k. The work-space offered by 4k on a 32" monitor, no scaling, is amazing.
Thankfully the games that I play are fine at that resolution, the 1070 would have been an issue tho.

I just buy direct now. On site warranty means from a retailer and shipping a monitor back is a nightmare especially when you one you receive in return is worse than the one you rejected. Direct or at the rain forest place.

So just bought the Samsung S27H850 from OCUK, fingers crossed this is the last, never had a PLS panel before. I actually have a Dell U2414h here, zero bleed and zero yellow glow, really deep great blacks a perfect panel but sadly is only 1080P.

Can anyone explain what are the technical reasons behind IPS screen bleeding too much compared to TN or VA?

Isn't it just the lack of Local Dimming which is the monitors' issue regardless of their TFT panel?

I reckon the ips panels are just more sensitive to the pressure placed on them by the bezels.

People have had some success reducing backlight bleed by loosening screws to reduce the pressure on the panel.

Not that I'd recommend taking an expensive monitor apart :p
