Today's mass shooting in the US

Not a mass shooting, but a 6 year old shot his teacher.

Absolutely mad.

Officials said that while the school - which has around 550 students - had metal detection facilities, students were checked at random and not every child was inspected.

I find it insane that a primary school needs to have metal detectors.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin said he had offered assistance to local officials, adding that his administration was "ready to help in any way we can".

"I am continuing to monitor the situation and am praying for the continued safety of all students and the community," he wrote on Twitter.

"Problems solved lads! I'm sending thoughts and prays."

Wow, that is incredible. How would you deal with this situation? He defiantly needs psychological help.
It apparently wasn't an accident either as it states this was "after an altercation between the pair". There are so many questions to be answered but my first thought is how on earth does a 6 year old get a gun to take to school?! The mind boggles!

How do you manage to have an altercation with a 6 year old

I assume it went down like, stop misbehaving child or detention for you. kids like we will see about that teach, see you tomorrow and came back the next day with a gun. Or perhaps they already had it on them.

The wife, going through a post menopause "charitable works" phase, is embracing being a teaching assistant in some cross border junior school.

Is it too much to hope some irrate Welsh toddler will take umbrage over her mispronunciation of some God forsaken village name, and end my anguish of her never ending stories from the valleys at the business end of a Colt .45? ;)

You tell me! Do they buy them for their 6yr old?
One of the NRA spokes idiots was shot by her own ~4 year old that she'd been proudly and publicaly training to use guns to prove how safe they were around kids if you only trained them how to treat them.
IIRC she left her "I need a gun for personal protection at a moment's notice" gun in her handbag that she threw on the back seat of her car (outside of easy reach in an emergency...) next to her toddler who then pulled it out and shot her in the back through her seat.

There are also so many pictures of American "guns rights" people with everyone in the family from the pre-schoolers up to the paralyzed, blind granny with their guns.

I suspect in this case it'll turn out that (like in so many other instances) the parents had the gun completely unsecured in the house where the kids could get it, IIRC gun deaths are now the leading causing of childhood deaths that aren't illness related in the US, with far more of them than car accident related deaths which used to the the main one and it'd depressingly common for a very young child to get hold of daddy's gun and shoot mommy, sis, brother, or their friend.

I suppose in these castrated, politically correct, `elf `n safety paralysed times it is somewhat refreshing the greatest nation on earth are stil casually shooting each other with gay abandon, whilst steadfastly voting for the right for it to continue to be both cheap and easy to so do :)

Teacher should have had a gun to defend himself.

It was one of those proper biological women types.... A rare breed, admittedly.

Is America seeing the rise of a new political class, the Toddler Party? The wife claims to have heard a very young lad state he "grabs them by the nappy, and they love it"...

I used to like the phrase "One never ceases to be amazed". I have now ceased to be amazed by pretty damn much anything!

If the child is from my hometown, they are more likely to have a can of Colt45*

* can you still buy cans of colt45, haven't seen it in years!

the large mass shootings hit out news headlines but the US has a huge shooting problem full stop.

28 have already been shot dead in Chicago alone in the last 21 days.
