Today's mass shooting in the US

How about keeping guns away from a 6 year old full stop? Are you suggesting a 6 year old has mental capacity to handle weapons? When they reach their teens its a different matter but children of that age shouldn't be taught how to use firearms, they should be taught they aren't toys and don't touch them.

Yeah I think kids can be taught how to handle firearms that aren't loaded. They can also be taught that they aren't toys and they shouldn't touch them under any circumstances without an adult present. They aren't mutually exclusive.

Its a 6 year old. You are expecting them to have the mental capacity of a child at least twice their age. You don't teach them how to use something then tell them not to use it and expect them to be able to resist. You teach them to never touch them full stop and don't leave them where they can easily get their hands on them.

And he was teaching that kid how to load it, rack it and fire it.

You know you don’t have to share every stupid thought that pops into your head?

But are they wrong?

The description of the shooter is an Asian man, which doesn't find the current media "narrative" regarding mass shooters generally being White Supremacists, so if thats true then within a few days it'll be a dead & buried story, probably by this Thursday I would guess.

About the time most mass shooters stay in the news cycle now then? Unless it's a school.

Personally, I don't see why a six year old child needs to learn how to use a handgun. I also don't think they have capacity.

In this case, the parents should have been shown how to safely store their weapon. If that weapon had been inaccessible, this shooting would not have happened.

Kids could be taught how to drive or fly a plane as well, but that's not the point right?

This case in particular highlights the issues with guns.

A 72 yr old was able to kill 10 or so people enabled by a gun.

If he had a knife, best he could probably manage is 1 victim in a suprise attack, and there after would get his ass kicked.

This topic is just done to death. The majority of Americans don't want to curb gun ownership so this will continue to happen.
It's all very simple, there are nutters in the world, there are people who react violently, there are people who hold weird political views. All these people are dangerous if armed. Are there enough incidents that you would restrict the freedom of all people who would like to own a gun (for whatever reason)? And the answer to that question is clearly "no" and I really can't see that changing soon. America will continue to have weak gun laws until someone does something really terrible and the entire nation is motivated in to change.

The regressive right really have turned into a bunch of fragile little whiners.

You mean conservative leaning white folk are sick of everytime there is a tragedy, they instantly become the scapegoats for it with people jumping up and down claiming this was a result of “white supremacists” before a single FACT about what occurred has even been determined.

Is there ever any backtrack, any apologies, any retractions? Nothing. They just spewed their hate without any repercussion and those get called "fragile little whiners" for having to take it.

The people that push it constantly are the real racists, and you're proof that the constant divisiveness works with that comment
