Was watching that on CNN last night a whole bunch of hand wringing pundits and commentators all trying to make sense of whats wrong with their socieity and clueless how to do something about the endless cycle of violence other than the obvious which is ban guns but thats crazy talk, right?
Whats shocks you about the US is the casual manner in which guns are discussed go to the mall pick up some groceries and a semi automatic and cartridges like any other normal person

UK knife deaths could double this year, and still not even come close to the slaughter of US firearm deaths.

That is always going to be the case as its far easier to shoot a dozen people than it is to get close enough to stab them. What should be alarming though is that within the UK over 70% of all murder victims are white.
UK
3.97 knife murders per 100,000 population within black populations
0.89 knife murders per 100,000 population within white populations
USA
26.6 gun murders per 100,000 population within black populations
2.2 gun murders per 100,000 population within white populations.

I agree in principle, if you could click your fingers and remove all firearms from america, id do it.
Banning guns means law abiding people hand in their guns, but no one else will.

End of the day it is their decision whether we agree with it or not.
Frustrating to see so many of these incidents though where even small tweaks to their firearms regulations would have prevented them.
That is alarming. It shows that whites are under represented as murder victims proportionately. Maybe minorities should stop killing on another?

There’s roughly 12 million minorities in the UK and there were 594 murder in the entire country last year.
Coming out with hyperbolic statements about how “minorities should stop killing each other” is weak sauce.
Maybe white people should stop shooting up schools, only like 0.001% of the white population actually do it but that’s more than other races, so…

Switzerland also has high gun ownership levels, specially for the 18 - 34 age range, not as high as the US, but the biggest factor to consider is that in Switzerland, people are trained about gun safety and responsible ownership due to mandatory military service for able bodied men.
Yet Switzerland still has mass shootings, obviously not as frequently due to its tiny population in comparison to America, but they still happen.
These incidents will always happen unless you address the route cause to start with, I don't see anyone addressing that matter on either side of the political spectrum. The route cause isn't access to guns, mass shootings have happened here in the UK and no one has access to guns, except the criminals. The same would be the case in America.

But the thing is most Briish people, and certainly myself, don't give a monkey's if the Yanks shoot each other to the point of extinction, but we do care what's happening over here, and violent crime is all around with little to show that the police or the courts are willing to address it in a decisive manner.
