Today's mass shooting in the US

You may want to have a word with the majority of trans people as they disagree with you.

People are free to do whatever they wish (within the legal framework), what you can't do is demand, coerce, or intimidate others to follow suit.

Sex vs gender, we can argue about gender identity in children but the physical characteristics we are born with are often (but not always) clear.

Would you say Michael using Mike, getting email etc to match would be rightfully annoyed at a person who deliberately only uses Michael in all comms? It would be a bit of a dick move to do so especially if for other names like Nicholas to Nick, they use them.

Ahh yes, those babies born where the sex isn't clear at birth that amount to approx 0.07% of births per year, those ones? As an example, more babies are born with an extra digit each year.

There's a world of difference between Michael wanting to be known as Mike compared to Bob wanting to be called Barbara.

In the way it impacts your life? Not really.

Do you think males and females should have spaces / scenarios that exclude members of the opposite sex?

Well gender, let's take the proposed Scottish system as an example. You can legally change your gender but if found in contravention of that you can be imprisoned. We don't really see men pretending to be women, they do tend to just assault the people regardless.

I'd like to have a safe space after I was sexually assaulted within 6 months of coming out (by someone working for the police no less). Trans people are at ultra high risk of being assaulted after all.

You did not answer my question:

Sorry, who are "the usuals"?

"Investigators believed an altercation led to the shooting at the Mahogany Masterpiece studio, WRBL reported"

The clue might be in the venue's name, but if that's too cryptic here's the dance club's website with some photos. I think C Kent is implying it is another black on black shooting.

Well it's was a black kids 16th birthday party in a 'black neighborhood' so it's entirely likely.

According to this website though, mass shooters tend to fall in line with racial demographics:

Between 1982 and April 2023, 74 out of the 142 mass shootings in the United States were carried out by white shooters. By comparison, the perpetrator was African American in 25 mass shootings, and Latino in 11. When calculated as percentages, this amounts to 52 percent, 17 percent, and seven percent respectively.

Race of mass shooters reflects the U.S. population

Broadly speaking, the racial distribution of mass shootings mirrors the racial distribution of the U.S. population as a whole. While a superficial comparison of the statistics seems to suggest African American shooters are over-represented and Latino shooters underrepresented, the fact that the shooter’s race is unclear in around nine percent of cases, along with the different time frames over which these statistics are calculated, means no such conclusions should be drawn. Conversely, looking at the mass shootings in the United States by gender clearly demonstrates that the majority of mass shootings are carried out by men.
