Today's mass shooting in the US

Well that's the thing isn't it?

It all depends on the definition and there isn't a single accepted metric. Could easily say a mass shooting is when a 100 people are killed by a bullet and it'd be as compelling.

By this metic there has been zero mass shootings in the US since the 2nd World War...

There's a general standard across government agencies and the general public which is 4 killed, there are various organizations which have mass shootings as 4 killed or injured but nothing quite so egregious as good old mother jones - I understand why Vincent used it as his 'example' but even he knows its utter rubbish.

There was a US congressional report that was released 2013 or 2015 that concluded a mass shooting is 4 or more homicides.

Given that the survival rate for people shot and stabbed has changed massively over the past few decades (due to much more effective initial medical care and improvements further down the line) then comparisons made over decades of data need to used persons injured not thoose killed or else you aren't so much looking at rates of gun violence over time as assessing improvements in medical care....

You can't really compare anyway, as the definition changed from 3 to 4 about 20 years ago

One of the NRA spokesidiots was making a huge thing about training her IIRC 4 year old how to shoot as a demonstration that as long as you trained your kids they would be safe around guns.

She then left her "must carry to be safe" gun in her handbag which she threw on the back seat of her car.
Her son then pulled the gun out of the handbag and shot her in the back.

It's almost like young children may not understand some forms of danger even if you've "trained" them in it.

The NRA was taken over by the FSB so everything they say is designed to hurt America. Ironically one of those agents had the gall to call out Ukraine for giving out rifles to civilians last year for 'endangering children'... the NRA spent a lot of time promoting and helping this lady.

Why Americans don't have more grassroots groups for this stuff when it seems highly relevant to have for ensuring respect for their own communities rather than being smothered by political lobbyists is beyond me.

Not a mass shooting, but still unbelievable:

White male shot a black kid twice through a door, because the kid rang his doorbell after getting the address wrong.

Can I add some total irrelavancies into this thread with impunity, based on a demographic bias? For those that say I already do, Vince should be grateful for me having opened the door for his constant BLM'ish rants ;)

The white guy is apparently an 80 year old.

So much wrong with this story, kid was apparently shot in the head - quote from the family: the homeowner opened the door, looked my nephew in the eye, and shot him in the head, when Yarl fell to the ground the family say the man shot him again - and yet pictures I've seen elsewhere show him with hardly any injuries and certainly none consistent with the claim and their lawyer was on the scene 15 minutes after it was reported. I do see that the gofundme that was set up keeps getting the goal raised, it's just a giant grift.

It was a.32 calibre which is probably why he survived.

To call if a "giant grift" you would have to believe either:

A) The kid went there with the intention of getting attacked

Or

B) It's all made up.

.32 calibre my ass, looks like he was shot with a bb gun if anything, I mean you have seen the pictures of his 'life threatening' injuries right?

The gofundme goal has been raised by another half a million since my post.

Meanwhile in Leeds, this legend tackles a man with a gun.

Turns out the gun was a plastic BB gun but he wouldn't have known that when he interviened.

That was such a quintessentially British attempt and foiling of an armed robbery! The way it petered out to exchanging comments and then the robber just walks out lol.
