Today's mass shooting in the US

When will the British come together for the greater good and give up there Knives, if they don't make an effort now generations and families to come will suffer its just endless cycle every year.

Possession of a bladed article in a public place is an automatic custodial sentence under current guidelines in this country.

One should always try and do one's eviscerations within the confines of your own property, of course.

On a serious note I think your statement is too sweeping, carrying certain types of bladed objects with good justification is still legal, is it not?

When was the last time one person killed 18 people with a knife?
Or knifed several people though a glass door, or at a distance of several meters (without both a supply of good throwing knives, and a lot of practice and luck).

The "but knives can kill" argument is so utterly stupid given that both we already regulate knives in the UK (far more than guns in much of the US), and that knives have an actual use in every single home in the country, as well as the vast majority of workplaces, I doubt there is a single warehouse, shop or even just office in the country that doesn't have at least one sharp knife, even if it's just a "box cutter" for opening packages.

Misinformation. Some bladed articles are allowed in public.
However you do need a reason for them in most cases...

You're pretty much limited to a folding penknife with a blade of less than 3 inches, unless you can satisfy a police officer that there is a reason you're carrying something more if stopped and the more suspicious you look or the more potentially lethal/out of place a knife is the harder you're going to find convincing that police officer you have a proper reason for having it on you.

So you can categorically prove that no one dies in the UK from a knife?

FYI:

282 - murders involving a knife or sharp instrument in England and Wales in the 12 months to March 2022. This is the highest total since 1946.

Same argument by the same people.

Serious crime resulting in death of innocents resulting of guns, everyone with common sense in here is disappointed, not surprised but happy to agree they need to be removed from accessibility.
Then a bright spark always comes in and says "what about knives" and thus we begin a tangent that solves nothing apart from the US has gun problems and the UK has knife problems.
Its like when gun lobbies get someone to say "what about if a good guy had a gun".
Pointless and should be considered trolling at this point. Frankly this whole thread is pointless, america wont change, randoms will die from gunshots by people who should not have access to a gun.

The daftness of this false equivalence is slightly mind boggling.

It seems you've taken a previous "defence" that you've heard or seen somebody stating on TV and decided to use it yourself without actually thinking it through logically. A knife is ostensibly a kitchen utensil used in the preparation of food that can also be used to kill somebody, in the same way an axe is a tool to chop wood that can be used to kill people etc.

An assault rifle's purpose is to kill things as efficiently as possible; either an animal or human, in self defence or for hunting etc. You surely can't be arguing against the simple regulation of these to make it more difficult to be obtained or retained by people who are "hearing voices".

Knives can kill people, hammers can kill people, and you can kill people with your bare hands, but its not the same as a gun, anyone who suggests that they are even vaguely the same is either stupid, ignorant or just trolling.

Depends what your underlying motivation and thresholds are. Ultimately the reasoning should be about saving lives.

Blades less than 3 inches or if you have a lawful reason for carrying it.

If you’re caught in public with a 3+ inch blade and you don’t have a lawful reason for carrying it (e.g. you’re a carpet fitter on your way between jobs), it’s an automatic jail sentence.
