Tomb Raider 2: Rise of the Tomb Raider Announced

I have no issue with developers making games for a specific platform when they're new IP but it's frustrating when it happens with existing franchises.

I also think it's not an issue if either MS or Sony actually helps out with the development and keep the game alive. In those cases the exclusivity is fair enough. It's when they literally just pay the devs to exclude the competition that it gets really annoying.

bottom line is very few exclusive games will make as much money as multi platform releases

Titanfall2 is going to be multi platform...simply because you have more millions of potential customers

to have the cheek to then issue a statement fobbing off Ps4 customers making out like they are doing us a favour....

they can kiss my plums to be honest

Which is being made BECAUSE of the support MS offered them with the release.

Well according to Kaz, he didnt even seem aware of it in his tweet, so where was he during all that time?

Every 3rd party exclusive on the ONE went multi-plat after a few months, hopefully this bites Square in the ass and puts them off any more exclusives in the future.

Which I think is the big story here, everyone knows Squenix wasn't happy with how much they made off TR, MS steps in to help and wants something in return.

There was a possibility of the sequel not coming because of all the companies doom and gloom talk

It makes very little sense to make a game for one platform only.
There is almost no development cost for games to be made multiplatform between Xbox One, PS4 and PC as they are both extremely similar underneath.

I am disappointed by this news. I understand consoles must have exclusives, but this should not be one of them. Tomb Raider has been multiplatform since the 1996 original.

Actually the original was multiplatform I.E. Saturn and PS at the time, then Sony made an exclusive deal for TR2.

Its just weird as i read a sales story which claimed the definitive version sold far better on sonys platform than it did on xb1

Very interesting, must be a lot of money involved here

I am not saying this because I am annoyed; this announcement actually made me laugh out loud and the 'letter' from the devs had me nearly wetting myself. Seriously they expect us to believe this BS.

Anyway, I am waaaayyy past buying a specific machine to play a specific game. I loved the TR reboot and was looking forward to playing this, however I am not going to pick up an XB1 to play this and really I hope that SE take a hit on this so it puts off other devs making similar decisions. Did SE not say that sales of the TR reboot were lower than expected? Well they will be in the same situation with this one, yet it will be of there own making.

Whatever. If it does come out on the PS4 or PC then I will play it, but meh, it is only a game; there are plenty of other things to play and do.

Why? its not on PC, whats there to talk about? Whining won't accomplish much.

Because I guess people would expect a PC version, when they come to the PC section of the forum they will find this thread and find out it is not. Sure they would find out if they google etc, but for those that don't they will open this little here thread and find out. Not really hard to work out why it should be here, it is info for PC gamers that this game is not coming. Yet anyway.

Right, so they put it out they would take an exclusivity deal, they could be having cash flow problems behind the scenes right now, MS steps in and says, well take the exclusive for the amount.

I'm sure Microsoft gave them a huge great big wedge of exclusive cash to cover any losses from PC sales don't you worry about that

the wordings also deliberately vague

an exclusive for holiday 2015

so multi platform in 2016 then?

why sucker people into maybe buying a console they dont need by being sly and vague

If this turns out to be what is really happening there will be no issue. PS4 users will be playing Uncharted for holidays 2015 and then a few months later a superior version of tomb raider will come out and we can get that too! :D

Surely it'll just be a timed exclusive? Such a shame if it doesn't get a PS4 release. I've just finished the definitive edition and thought it was a fantastic game.

Think it was confirmed in press release that not a timed exclusive.

also one for you 3 platforms pc, ps and xbox

69% of last sales was on ps

and pc defo took lion share of rest of sales
