Tomb Raider 2: Rise of the Tomb Raider Announced

fair enough the cash flow from MS, which would make the investors happy. But two things:

1) the BS they spin as if, like mentioned above, they are doing us a favor.
2) I think that MS are looking to off set the money they have spent on this with the sale of more consoles.

I do not think that this will give a sales boost that they are hoping for. a) many people cannot afford two consoles, and b) they are actually going to alienate many TR fans with this would will simply choose to just miss out (me and most of this forum included).

We will see, but I personally hope that they back fires substantially for both MS and SE. Unless of course this will be multi-platform in which case I will buy it but but acknowledge that they have been sly B&*@%$ds and look to get it at the lowest cost I can

"Dear Tomb Raider Community,

As you may have seen, we've just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox. We consider all of you to be the lifeblood of Tomb Raider and the work we do at Crystal(mostly Sony since we have been there forever) . I'd like to give you some insight into this decision, and why we feel this is the very best thing for the Tomb Raider sequel we're creating at the studio.

Tomb Raider in 2013 was a success due in large part to your continued support. Our goal has always been to deliver something truly special with Rise of the Tomb Raider. Today's announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming. Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have (paid us large sums of money) in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We know they will get behind this game more than any ($$$$$) we have had from them in the past - we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and ($$$$$) of a major partner like Microsoft.

This doesn't mean that we're walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.

We know that there are probably many more questions and concerns. Please do send them to us, and we'll answer to the best of our ability. Meanwhile we're going all out to try and make something truly special - the most ambitious Tomb Raider game ever built.

Thanks,

Darrell Gallagher

Like when they said they where doing you a favour by not giving PS4 users the EA subscription service?...even though you don't have to buy it and its up to you?...yea....really thinking of the gamers.

MS and SE already have got what they both wanted.

For all you know Sony themselves have a lot of exclusives lined up.

He says it himself, 'Building a brand', making an innovative or indeed intersting game is not at the forefront of thought here, making TR marketable is, that's where a big cash pot comes in, I'm sure MS will hype this to the gills, SE themselves stated that TR didn't sell enough.

Bummer - I would have bought this on the PS4. C'est la vie. I'll likely get an XB1 at some point to play the exclusives and this will be one of them - and MS laugh all the way to the bank :/

Oh well, they have lost a sale here. I would have purchased this day one.

Now I may not bother to purchase at all once multi format just to get it up them.

I can't imagine large sales on X1.

the wordings also deliberately vague

an exclusive for holiday 2015

so multi platform in 2016 then?

why sucker people into maybe buying a console they dont need by being sly and vague

This. It's actually bordering on misrepresentation by Crystal Dynamics/MS. Imagine being a PS4 owner who buys an XB1 because you're really desperate to play this only to find out some time down the line that it's being released on the PS4 anyway. It's pretty dodgy by CD, in my opinion they need to come out and clarify whether it's actually an exclusive or just a timed exclusive.

Well that's one game I'll never play as its pretty disgusting how they've done this... both to PlayStation and pc fans.. bugger off tomb raider, nice knowing you....

And even if and when it does hit ps4 or pc, still bugger off ....

Have to admit I am disappointed, I didn't try the latest Tomb Raider until the PS4 version but was really surprised , it completely impressed me and it was one of those games I enjoyed enough to play through twice.

The "Don't worry Uncharted 4 will be better argument" is completely stupid, I would like to play both but I won't invest in another console just for one game.

I dint really get the "buying an XO for "one" game".

I didnt buy a PS4 just for "one" game, as though theirs never going to be any other games that I would want to play on it. I think theirs lots of games on each I would want to play.

Gutted if this is truly exclusive. Really enjoyed the 2013 version and they had a very good model to build on.

Cant see how making this exclusive is doing SE any favors? am sure this got to be timed.

SURELY

If this never comes to PC or PS4 I'll be happy to just never play it. Gonna need a whole hatfull of great exclusives (and Halo, Gears or Forza don't count since those series died a long time ago) to get me to buy an xbone.

Going to need lots of good games, several price drops and a slim version before I consider it!

Rather a shame, I enjoyed playing the first one.

The new game is going to have to be a big improvement over its predecessor if MS want to turn it into a console seller, instead of just another an Uncharted clone.

If it turns out just to be a timed exclusive then meh, at least PC / PS player get advanced warning if it turn out to be ****.

That's a statement as of this moment in that, there is no other exclusive on the xbox one I have any interest in, so yeah it would be for one game, I understand there may be more in the future but there may not.

Yes but once you already own 1 console, that list recudes quite a lot.
So far, there are no games only available on Xbox that are remotely interesting to me. Lined up for the future, there are now two - Tomb Raider and Quantum Break - neither of which I know enough about to determine if they will even be any good.

But, then my tastes in games is not what it used to be - I find most quite dull and pointless. So to many, there could be plenty reasons for both.

The point made about the 'brand' is quite relevant. It's the way everything is going now as brands are so vital in todays market. It's sad that it is that way, but that's the way it is. Building a brand is going to make you a lot more money than just making good products.

That petition is a bit dopey, TR2 was a ps1 exclusive for example, sony signed a deal then and MS are doing it now.
