Tomb Raider Thread

Maybe AWPC is comparing them because you can use bows as weapons. :p

Edit: And both games have lots of trees too.

The fast travel and shooting the animals reminds me of Farcry, the cutscenes you notice the performance difference when it scrolls to Lara and her special hair and back to other characters who don't use Head and Shoulders!

Just tried the benchmark and getting 54.4fps average on ultimate although im not running the latest beta drivers. Going to try the newest ones see if that makes any difference not that im really expecting it to and im happy with 54. Was gettin 70 average without TressFX on. I like TressFX apart from the hovering that the hair does although im not sure if its going to be as noticable in game when I get a chance to play it later

Ended up just grabbing it from Steam. Only played the first part where she escapes from the caves so far but it looks and runs great maxed out on the big screen, haven't noticed any slow down yet.

I've not got this yet, but from what I've seen they've removed most of what actually made the first tomb raider any good! How about some puzzles and tombs?? Without those it just becomes a third person COD with a female lead but set on an island. Don't really like the look of it much.

In fact, the only tomb raider games I've actually liked were the first one and the anniversary remake.

I did a benchmark, got 42 average with TressFX on. what was with the min? 1.4fps? Mistake surely?

I'm using latest beta CAT on a 7970m so 42fps average with most settings ultra 2 x SSAA etc, not bad I didn't think...

Played the first part again, its really good, well I liked it and I do like the whole see it play it, instead of watch a cutscene then wait for it to load and then play etc... Its very seamless and blends cutscene into gameplay without you even knowing it..

uncharted type gameplay, its certainly up there with uncharted, uncharted 2 and 3 were in a league of their own, tomb raider has to be really good to match those, and it can hold its own thats for sure..

I like the new direction, its a new take on tomb raider..

The hair effect is crazy in the part at the beginning when theres water comming down with it turned on i get about 24 fps with it turned off i get 60 lol. Its not worth keeping it on in my opinion. Everything else maxed out and it looks great.

Is anyone running this on crossfire?

Ive got 2x 2gb 6950's, i5 2500k and 8gb ram, im kind of hoping to max it out, maybe not with the hair thing though!

Any thoughts

Thanks
