Tomb Raider Thread

Very high resolution textures with up to 16x the amount of data
Detail Tessellation to enhance the detail on many surfaces in the game
Higher quality shadows
High quality depth of field with near-blur
Tessellation algorithms used to smooth out geometry
Improved cloth, SSAO, quality wetness effects, and post-filter effects.
LOD quality is adjustable for better quality on higher-end machines.

High hopes for this.

Never seen that as an actual graphic option in a game before, any idea if its AMD Evolved or The Way It's Meant To Be Played?

Man I really love what Squeenix are doing with classic franchises, helping them keep with the times while also keeping the magic, very high hopes for this.

Have they shown anything from the puzzle element or exploration side of the game? I take it there's still puzzles.... Its just from the trailers that I have seen you wouldn't think so. Just appears to be constant action, Lara mowing down people of different sizes with guns, a bow and a axe.

I hope I am wrong

Not liking the focus on combat with humans. Puzzles and exploration was where it was at. Maybe the odd fight with animals/dinosaurs/demigods. Im not 100% sold tbh

I'd prefer emphasis on exploration, puzzles and platforming/climbing all set in vast & desolate environments, accompanied by the haunting/atmospheric soundtrack of early TR games.

It seems to me as though they've moved completely away from what made the Tomb Raider games so unique and popular. Just looks like another heavily scripted, linear & QTE ridden action shooter now.

The Gametrailer review was very critical but the final score didn't seem to reflect the review at all, from the reviewers criticisms I'd have expected around 6/10 but it ended up being given 8.5!
