Tomb Raider Thread

I have to say, going by this thread and others elsewhere you are very much in the minority. Yes there could have been more tomb raiding but it was an origin story, more about how she became the Tomb Raider. I'm sure the sequel will be based around more exploration and puzzles.

What evidence is there to suggest this? The chances are very much in favour of more of the same, as with most sequels.

I just gave it another hour, and I'm just getting more frustrated. I can't believe some people who's opinion I really respect were saying this was GOTY....I wouldn't even say it is worth the £8 I paid for it tbh. Shame as I was really looking forward to playing it.

Worst bit so far- Lara, standing at the bottom of a cliff says "I can do this", all determined....then an arduous 30 seconds of me holding up on my analogue stick, and it was done:o...actually, mashing the X button to open a gate was up there as well. I left it for about 5 minutes to see what would happen if I didn't mash X....nothing!

It does look quite nice though.

I didnt think that much of the new tomb raider..was ok but they made it out to be better in the adverts etc.And the multiplayer sucks too !!

Readingsome other posts it seems im not alone with the fact that this game was really poor including the tombs which to be fair were really easy and really short.

They could have implemented more of the origional game play into this and not spent so much time on the visuals(which to be honest ,were quite good) !

So I was going to start this game this evening, was told by a mate to give it a good 2-3 hours for the first session.

Real life took over so I had an hour which I have spent mucking about with the benchmark and radeonpro.

Averaging 40 fps on ultra, with ultra SMAA being injected, with dynamic vsync. Think I'll settle for those figures, it is only a 2gb 7850 I'm using :p

Will hopefully have time tomorrow to give it a good blast.

Some of peoples takes on the game in here are a bit backward. Tomb Raider brings back much nostalgia for me too, I remember playing the original back in 1996 thinking how brilliant it was being an easily impressed 12 year old.

To think that this reboot was going to have the same 'awkward' style control system and gameplay as it did all those years ago is laughable. Have you tried playing any of the original games again recently? I did, and FML wouldn't give it the time of day these days. In fact even at the time it was a case of playing some of the sequels "because Tomb Raider". Angel Of Darkness was terrible, as was Chronicles before it.

So I went into this reboot completely neutral, and ended up enjoying it. Amazing graphics to boot too. So for those of you who are extremely unimpressed, maybe you were expecting miracles. I will say though, it needed more tombs. In the event it does get a sequel hopefully that will fix it, but overall I thought it was an excellent origins story.

It is about expectations, if someone expects follow-up to old school tomb raider with huge levels, no QTEs and manny puzzles, they will be disappointed.
If someone expects game like Uncharted but more open and with better combat, they will love it (my case).

This looks like a game I'm interested in.

Will be keen to see what my gtx 660ti makes of it, with sli planned soon (when prices drop), to push it even further.

I had 60fps with details on high, ssaa and tresfx off, with gtx560ti. Looks great and it just feels glorious at 60fps and 1080p, compared to console versions.
