Tomb Raider Thread

Yeah that bit had me for a little while you have to go up another rope and then theres a ladder on the back of a bit that you can climb up IIRC.

As you can see from my sig, I'm a little biased. 2013 TR is ok as a game, but it isn't Tomb Raider. Far too easy, far too many funneled sections, far too many "need to shoot this" stuff. I recently played TR1 in DosBox with Glide and pad support, at a resolution I could have only dreamed of in '96. That was a proper game, and thankfully I'd forgotten most of the important parts of the levels :) For some reason I have a photographic memory of TR2+3 so I think I'll sidestep these in my replay marathon

Argh, I must find this rope that's been avoiding me all this time then :(

Actually I might be remembering it wrong and I don't have a save from around that point in the game :| going back after completing the game I can't remember how the mission panned out there after the stand off.

EDIT: Think theres a ladder up on the right hand side of your screenshot actually if your at that point in the game.

I just completed this again recently so can help! :p

Use the rope at number 1 and then you go over to number 2 area (:p) and do some jump against the surfaces/walls to get higher up (have to use the shotgun to break barriers first in order to reach the area where the tower is and then break another barrier on the bottom of the tower iirc)

:o:eek: Thanks!

Let's just pretend this never happened! I never once in the many hours I have been trying to find the way thought about standing on the crate and climbing up with the rope there. I was looking for a vertical rope lol!

Lol no, don't stand on the crate! :p :o

Use the rope attached to the pole in number 1 circle to cross back to the other side :p

And then you go to the left towards that big tower and to gain access to that area there should be a wooden barrier with barb wire attached that can be destroyed with the shotgun (aim assist marker should turn red when pointing at the barrier with the shotgun)

You can also use your sense/highlight "power" :p to highlight things of importance.

I'll upload screenshots in a few minutes!

EDIT:

in that screenshot it looks like you need to stand on the crate in some ways but the crate is nowhere near that rope you need to use :p

Agreed - I think the people who are playing it now and really enjoying it are probably people who've never played 1 and 2 at the time they were originally released.

I clocked 1 & 2 when they originally came out, played the remakes and enjoyed them a lot and *really* liked this new reboot. It could have done with some longer more complex puzzle areas but the fundamentals are good and it was a rip roaring story.

I'd like to see a sequel.

+1 for the sequel, finished it just the other day. Played both the originals at the time and thought this re-make was a step in the right direction in virtually every way.

Finished the story on this today, played through on hard. Other than a couple of spots featuring the samurai types, it didn't seem hard at all.

A very enjoyable game overall.

8.2 hours in now and at some points it felt like I was near the end but now I'm exploring another area and it's opened up again. Immense vistas to view and the game engine is just beautiful. Really have gotten my money's worth.

The zipline sections have been especially cool, I don't have a fear of heights but they do give you a sense of vertigo!

NOt long finished the single player in Hard mode. Really enjoyed it, any recommendations for similar type games? I have a capable gaming PC and a 360.

Not sure if you would call it a similar, but I just finished playing Remember Me and found it very enjoyable. Have a watch of the walkthrough and see what you think.

Cheapest I`ve seen it is here http://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/remember-me-pc-cd-key?gclid=CLmzg4eZk7gCFYjLtAodXRQAVA

Completed just now, took me 16 hours and with a 71% completion record.

Very good game indeed :)

This game is abysmal. Nothing like the original tomb raiders. I used to enjoy lining up jumps, worrying that I might not make them. This time you just get sucked onto the ledge if you get even close to it, it all feels a bit airy-fairy really.

Garbage.

i wouldnt call it absymal, its an enjoyable game. Its just not original (uncharted does everything massively better) and the gameplays a little dry. I would say TR underworld was much better than this though.
