Top Gear returns on Sunday 27th June at 8pm

Enjoyed the show, pleasently surprised how nice Cruise/Diaz were (lol @ Cameron swearing lots!) and Senna tribute was good.

Toureg bit I found a bit crud imo.

Actually enjoyed Diaz and Cruise, Veyron bit was ok.

The Senna tribute was immaculate, what a man and a racing driver.

^My centiments exactly.

That and Tom Cruise was weirding me out a little bit, just something about his body language.

For people who are slating Top Gear etc, you can go and watch Eastenders instead if that's your sort of thing.

Agreed, I really don't understand the moaners.

I can't stand Eastenders, but I certainly wouldn't force myself to sit through it and go on to complain on the 'Eastenders' thread on OcUK.

I've watched Top Gear for years now in both formats, and I love the way the show is made now. I don't want to watch a show where men with beards tell me the about the rear seat legroom of a Kia, or the difference in CO2 output in a range of affordable cars. I can go to a dealership for that information.

What I can't do however, is drive a Toureg Dakar car down a mountain, pull doughnuts with Cameron Diaz in a V8 Jag or max out a Veryron on a private test track in Germany.

And that's why I will continue to love Top Gear and remain utterly confuddled by people who complaing about it every week.

because it could be done without dumbing down and insulting the intelligence of the viewers

Well I guess I must be either thick-skinned or stupid as I certainly don't feel my intelligence insulted; I open a can of beer, put my feet up and enjoy an hour of entertainment on a Sunday night.

As soon as it finished last night, I went straight to YouTube to relive some classic moments in F1. I'm sure lots of other people did the same.

Fantastic Episode. Only 2 episodes left :( Damnit!!

such as the "race" where the camera shots just don't add up and are just there to look flash, the "oh look it fell off the cliff" and the lets fill a bit of time on the cheap by getting someone to plug something for 10 mins

certainly brought into perspective just how crap modern F1 is in comparision

I think the whole show is produced with tongue firmly placed in cheek. Nobody really expects a hard-fought neck and neck race to the finish, well I don't anyway. What I do expect is some stunning photography, stupid stunts and driving 130mph over a frozen lake.

Granted, I do find that SIARPC is frequently the low point of the show, and is often where I'll have a well-timed fag break while the Z-listers do their plug.

And as for the "whoops-it-fell-over-and-caught-on-fire-and-bumped-into-May's-car-and-fell-off-the-cliff"; well I can only say it amuses me and appeals to my inner-child. :)

For me, a great episode from start to finish.
Top Gear is perfect for anyone who enjoys great camera work, fast cars, and funny set-ups. If you don't like any of that, why watch??

This was my first time seeing an episode of the new series. On the whole i thought it was great, though found the first bit with the ice/snow race boring. I never thought much of Diaz previously, but i found myself tilting my head slightly with a satisfied smile on my face whenever she was on the screen. Like others, thought both American's lap times were definitely fixed, too much of a coincidence. I've never been into F1, but thought the part on Senna was great. Seemed like a mental driver from the footage. Liked his attitude, the way he drove straight into the other driver on the first bend because of the circumstances, and the way he spoke of it afterwards. Feel like i missed out on something by not paying attention to F1 whilst he was around.

Can't believe i forgot to mention the Bugatti, awesome car. Surprised to see James driving it though.

I really don't see why people would think they'd fix Cruise' and Diaz' lap times. Why would they even care? It's not like any of their big star Hollywood friends are going to care, is it?

This. Do people forget that Tom Cruise has had so much experience in driving etc?

The Porsche pedal car bit lasted all of what, 2 minutes?

It had a fairly long segment about maxing out a Veyron, and a long (and moving) section on Ayrton Senna which, lets be honest, would not have appealed to anybody but 'petrolheads'. That film would hardly have appealed to the average housewife would it?

So yeah, I stick by what I said, it was the most 'petrolhead' episode in a long time.

Actually my other half was moved by the Senna bit, for the 'human' element of the story. But yes as a petrolhead I really enjoyed the episode.

I must admit I did not look at the footage in detail but I did see Cameron Diaz miss a gear-shift and not hitting perfect exit speeds so I was really surprised to see her at the top.

Best lap time is obviously their best lap time, but the footage shown is probably not always of the same lap, but pieced together to make better TV.
