yea dont they get the best time out of 3 flying laps?
but obviously its better tv to show the bits where they went a bit wrong regardless of whether that was part of the fastest lap or not?

Good point, that could explain the difference between the footage and the actual fastest time.

What more can I say,
brilliant episode, loved the senna and Hamilton section. The veyron was awesome and the ice driving superb and then to top it of two actors that actually know how to do an interview.
Just seems very odd how the 2 biggest stars they have ever had on the show magically post the 2 quickest times, especially when both of their lap "collations" were full of mistakes.
I'm very sceptical about the times, and surprised at how many people actually liked their interview, but, meh... /shrugs

Imho not a chance, what about all the road trips? They knock socks off the last ep. It was good but not up with the best.

I'm not sure they kept that format you know, a lot of people at the beginning would trash their lap by spinning off making their one try useless - I haven't seen that happen for a good few years now.

I'd agree with this. It was mentioned on the tea party when they first got the Lacetti. Then mentioned the next week. Then never spoken of again. And no one's completely stuffed it (like Jimmy Carr at that tea party) since.
My guess is they introduced it to save time on that day, then let it slide a few weeks later.
Re Tom Cruise's driving - they just played a clip of Wilman on Radio 1. He turned up 2hrs earlier than most guests, and spent ages practicing with the Stig. He took it more seriously than nearly anyone, apparently.
Ok, best studio episode.
It's how they timed them at the start of this series when they got a few people down to get some times on the board.

These people demand only the best in completely unscripted, improvised, ad lib TV.
Big Brother is clearly the better choice for them.
I don't understand all the criticism, I thought it was a fantastic episode as usual. It didn't focus on being as funny as it usually does (compare it to the Reliant Robin episode for example, or the camping ones) and instead more on the serious petrolhead side of things. It was still well made and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
