Total War: Warhammer 2

Waiting for this game to be released so I can use a Humble Bundle 50% off SEGA cart

Doesn't seem to work on pre orders, i'm hoping that'll change when it's released!

Edit: Ah probably not going to work, coupon says 'select games' :(

If you pre-order you get Norsca free, though if you get a CD-KEY instead it probably works out cheaper buying separately.

I have been watching loads of Youtube stuff about it as I think this is one of the few gaming series where it benefits you to get familiarity with things before release. I am also waiting for the combined campaign map, the Vortex one doesn't really interest me so much.

As for the mods... I heard bad things about the tool not being as good as for WTW I... hope those fears prove unfounded.
I usually falter at the last moment and pre-order :D
I agree about the mods - I had some I considered vital to playing a decent game - fingers crossed!

Today is the day :)

It should be available from 0830 BST

What faction are you all starting with? I've tried to avoid a lot of the 'Lets Play' videos and only seen a little bit of footage. I'm going to give High Elves a go!

I shall resist the temptation to go for the obvious and pick Skaven and instead select Dark Elves.

As predicted, I faltered last night and pre-ordered.
I don't even have time to play tonight, or tomorrow.

I am weak :D

Me too, pre-ordered with 4 hours to go...at least I could pre-load and I thought I could start when it unlocked, but I was held up and now I'm 2 hours late!

Anyway, I'm going to play an Ultra custom battle as each of the factions vs the others to see which one I like, starting with High Elves vs Dark Elves.

I chose the Culchan Plains map, and went for a mixed army lead by Teclis the spellcaster, with 2 nobles in support, all mounted. 5 x spearmen and 2 x Phoenix Guard as the anti-large, 3 x White Lions of Thrace as the melee infantry. 4 x Archers, 3 x Lothern Sea Guard (archers but with decent melee), 3 x Lothern Sea Guard with shields. For the cavalry, went with 4 x Silver Helms as the shock cavalry and 2 x Ellyrian Reaver Archers missile cavalry. 4 x Eagle Claw Bolt Throwers constitute the artillery and one each of the Fire and Frost Phoenix round out the roster. Went for the Phoenixes instead of the Dragons (they're cheaper anyway), plus I haven't seen them before so interested to use them.

Cheers,

I had read a twitter from the devs that said if you own the Blood and Gore DLC for Warhammer 1, it would count for Warhammer 2 as well, but I dont seem to have any blood in Warhammer 2.

EDIT : Ah, its coming in a few days, ok

The fact that everything is not implemented at release (WTWI factions, combined map, blood etc) is poor imo.

I'd rather they polish up mortal empires (which is where the WTW1 factions will be) rather than release a buggy mess especially as the enlarged map isn't likely to be a simple thing (taking into account the number of AI, turn times etc). Agree on the blood/gore point.

I'd rather they polish things before a release date and release a fully functioning game.

The "Mortal Empires" map should always have been a critical and de facto component of the game, and not being able to play even custom battles using WTWI factions is a big disappointment.

Oh cool. Glad I have all the DLC for the first game now.

Just need to practice now before the mega campaign is released. Gotta do some household chores first and then I'll be playing my first campaign. Should be good :).

Suspect it's being driven by Sega rather than CA to get the game out by a certain timetable for quarterly revenue, think people forget it's a business at the end of the day and some of these things aren't within a developers control. Anyway it's supposedly coming within the next 6-8 weeks so people can hold off buying until then, it's not like you have to buy on release.

How can we forget it's a business when we are paying them good money? It's priced above the average for a PC game too.

To be fair there is plenty of content in the game already. It isn't like there is nothing to do and the patch will be free for both blood and gore and the grand campaign. Personally I'm not disappointed at all. I'd rather have the game now than wait for those patches to be ready.

Then we shall have to agree to disagree. I don't care about the vortex campaign, I care about having all races playable in custom battles, and about playing them in a sandbox campaign map. That is what the series will be remembered for, not the Vortex part.
