I didn't expect RM to move this high so quickly and appear to stabilise (for now) above 500
Has really shown me not to listen to opinion too much as most advised against it

Anyone interested in the twitter flotation?

Agreed. The massive amount of public interest and investment in RMG makes it quite interesting but I think it may reach 550 after bouncing between 20-30 points every few days. Not sure I've got the balls to spread bet a sell on it though.

For once I was on the money :p

And yeah, Twitter and even Merlin will be interesting.

How can i buy twitter or merlin entertainment shares in the ipo and end up with them in my Hargreaves ISA ?

I also want to pick another share to add exposure to the housing market, my taylor wimpey shares don't seem to be doing anything though, just bobbing up and down pretty much around where i bought them.

All the other ones seem to be doing similar things with the exception of persimmon, I cant work out why Speedy hire (a hire company for the UK construction industry) is still doing so rubbish, especially when you compare it to ashtead plant hire (same type of company but with more global exposure), then there is wolseley & travis perkins which both seem expensive but i know the construction industry is starting to suffer from a lack of building materials.

When I was spread betting on the land market I always did it on commercial as opposed to residential, ie Land Securities, Bodycote, Great Portland, Shaftesbury etc. Might want to take a look at them as the two are still related but commercial is more aggressive/higher ticket price.

Not sure about Twitter and Merlin in your ISA, I imagine you'd have to buy through the system then transfer the certificates afterwards but no idea really.

plant hire (same type of company but with more global exposure)

They get like 5% growth abroad and we celebrate if we look close to 1% even. Definitely more requirement for general infrastructure growth per capita plus anything sold abroad with a weak pound looks good usually.

Do foreign shares go into ISA? I think you need to own them here which is a maybe but ask the broker about CDI in ISA
My personal vote about twitter profits is
icon13.gif

but then google just passed $1000 :o
Another route is a tech fund, I know someone with PCT and done well

RMG is just irritating me now, its gone up again, back down some. Still got the momentum of a freight train looks like
Only negative I see is gov possibly selling an additional 8% or so before xmas, it might

land market I always did it on commercial
I think Tesco gain from land values rising, they own so much. They can afford to own less with more warehouse less central deliveries

Ok, I want to definitely invest in Twitter,

What do I need to sort out now (my broker only deals with UK market)

Looked at
Halifax
Iweb
HL

I have no idea about what extras you get with brokers with higher fees

Huge 82% jump this month for my GWP shares. Now at 160p (average base price for me 77p)

GW Pharmaceuticals has announced the successful closing of the European mutual recognition procedure in France for Sativex oromucosal spray in the treatment of spasticity due to Multiple Sclerosis and a resulting recommendation for approval by the French authorities.

The next step in the regulatory process is to work with the French National Agency of Medicine and Health Products Safety (ANSM) to finalise any country-specific requirements.

Following completion of this next step, it is then expected that France will issue a national marketing authorisation.

Launch timing in France is dependent on completion of subsequent national pricing and reimbursement procedures.

Sativex will be commercialised in France by GW's European partner, Almirall.

Just wish I'd bought more now 18 months ago!!

Is now a good time to buy bp shares ? they have announced figures and an improved dividend ? i thought about buying some anyway, i am just confused because normally apparently onces the dividend is announced the stock drops to reflect it where as bp is going up as well ?

Bp has nice rise, its beaten earnings estimates and its often looking negative so quite a big jump for a large stock. I'll trim a bit but its a long term hold generally. It could drift back down

The stock drops on ex div day which is the point where owning the share no longer entitles you to receive the payment announced. Thats always a wed for UK listed stocks (so own it tues).

Ocassionaly stocks with big positive news can rise on ex div but usually down. Its only a quarterly, like 1% or so.

Just selling Apple on open as its risen quite well. If you like twitter ipo, try https://twitter.com/RedDogT3Live whose firm will be advising on the demand for that stock on the day, 7th Nov was it ? They are useful

HL do CDI I think, for your ISA or Iweb would just buy the plain shares for you manually.
I prefer iweb

Thoughts on LLOY for med/long term? Missed the dip today (been waiting for one to get back in) but there still seems like plenty of upside over the long term imo with a return to dividend hopefully next year and the Gov selling the rest of it's shares etc.

RMG swaying again. Bought @ 539.54 (SB).

What's a good source for IPO news and dates? I'm interested in Twitter and Merlin.

I think I am going to pass on merlin
They just seem too be cashing in on royal mail
They also offer a discount on season ticket..? :-\

I'm still making sure about who to go with for NYSE shares

Iweb charge less commission than Halifax but a bigger percentage on currency
Even though they are both halifax

No i didnt, bought more shares in Artemis strategic assets instead as they have loads of BP and i felt like i was just chasing the dividend yesterday, but with these rises as well i think i should have bought some.

Barclay are doing well today as are next

I already hold LLOY shares for the long term, there just bobbing about as well like the taylor wimpey shares but i cant see them not being a good long term bet..

Have some LLOY and TW myself. In at 53 and 68 for LLOY and 95 and 99 for TW. Long term holds.

ADN looks to have recovered on the news with LLOY

MML is bobbing around, down a bit today on the news of a drop in output but for the med-long term still looks attractive.

mml has super low gold costs I think, not sure why its not done better. AAZ also

i cant see them not being a good long term bet..
If Lloyds can pay a div, they can do better. TSB float and all sorts, their CEO has a few pokers in the fire and I reckon he can pull it off

Never heard of merlin. Put in a sell for BP at 485, accidental left it as a buy order which failed luckily :o
Maybe should buy Apple back here, t3live say sit back though I think

Long term LLOY here too. About 32% up but looking to hold for very long term.

Will likely reinvest dividends and let it roll for many years.

What are your thoughts on dividend reinvestment in general, all?
