Traffic filters will divide Oxford into six '15 minute' neighbourhoods

According to her - no.
You can only do it so many times a year.
I haven't read the proper report though.

A resident can register their vehicle to allow them to go through a filter up to 100 times a year. Otherwise you have to take the ring road. You can use the ring road as much as you want.

The number of time allowed is important but not relevant to the fundamental point that the council should NOT be able to dictate to it's citizens where they are allowed to travel.

The city belongs to people, NOT to the council.

They are free to travel. Where exactly they are allowed to drive isn't a free for all and isn't set in stone for eternity, and most importantly is in the councils remit. The real test is when the people are back at the ballot box, maybe they will vote in a council that will remove the traffic filters.

These 15 minute cities are not wanted by the vast majority of people. Very few people want them. But they are being pushed through for ideological and financial reasons (fines). I hope the people do vote out idiots like this although most parties are as bad as one another.

I am not from Oxford but I'm going to see if there are any upcoming protests and join one. I've had enough of this kind of thing.

I've watched your demise over the last few years Hades. I think you've just reached a new peak.

How do you feel about retail parks? Cul de sacs?

Since you mentioned joining the protest.
So disagreeing with 15 minute cities means I want to join a far right protest? That's quite an interesting perspective on wanting to keep personal freedom.

EDIT: Re-reading your comment I think you're trying to insinuate that I might be far right and trying to infiltrate a protest. You are welcome to think what you like. But you would be grossly wrong and it is a lazy argument to make.

Cul de sac's are typically built that way to start with, when a new road or development is built. Admittedly not all of them, and my opinion on blocking off an existing non-cul de sac would be based on the reason it was blocked off.

Retail parks are privately owned so not relevant here.

EDIT: Can you give me a specific example of a cul de sac and why it was either built that way, or converted from a previous non-cul de sac and I will give an opinion on it.

No that's your perspective on what you think I was saying, which might deserve a moment of self reflection on your part.
What it was, was a warning that if you choose to do so, be careful as it seems they're being infiltrated by ****s. I have no issues with your protesting, but if they're indeed being infiltrated don't be surprised if things kick off and you're in the middle.

Yes I misunderstood your point and am happy to say that.

Any protest can be infiltrated by far left or far right. It doesn't negate the need for peaceful protest against what someone see's as unjust.

You dont live in Oxford but you are going there to protest?

Indeed they can, but if it were the status quo I'd imagine it wouldn't really be reported or warned about. So I imagine it's probably a concentrated effort to do so.

Otherwise you have to take the ring road. You can use the ring road as much as you want.
How does this help with climate change though, everybody will just be using the ring roads and burning more fuel because they now have to travel further

The 15minute city idea is great, but the closing off the roads and making everybody use a ring road is a terrible idea if the aim is to reduce carbon emissions

haven't driven into oxford in years because it's too much of a ballache and too expensive to park. something needed doing. if it's not this then an alternative needs to be suggested instead.

Install large tungsten spikes at random intervals along the roads which also randomly shoot upwards when vehicles are detected by camera, that'll sort the traffic out.

These things are always done for the right reasons but implemented horribly. If the Council want fewer people driving into Oxford they need to improve public transport links.

The same traffic reduction measures are happening in south Manchester but there is 1 bus a hour to the local shopping high street (2.5 miles away) which you can’t walk with young children. So I either drive with the children or wait for a once a hour single deck bus. I mostly don’t go now and order more products online and the high street is dying - go figure!
