looks like real madrid might be offloading benzema bet hes linked to arsenal all summer and goes somewhere else at the last minute :D

Of course he will, it will be another Higuain type of episode for us. But instead of us buying what we really need, we will end up with another luxury player who will end up burning himself out due to Wenger not using him properly. Then that player will end up being injured for a few mths, only for him to come back and help us get 4th and therefore Wenger realising that...oh i should have used him better in the season:p.

Remind you of anyone??

You got one part wrong, last bit, Wenger realising anything just doesn't happen.

If Wenger had the capability to learn the past 8 years would have gone very very differently.

I can see this summer being pretty unbearable as a Southampton fan. It is already annoying reading BBC Gossip column and having 3-4 paragraphs each time about how our most important players and manager are leaving this summer, without even one mention of the fact that any of them might actually stay.

It'd be such a shame if the team gets pulled to pieces and I can see football becoming very boring when smaller teams can't even begin to create their own young teams due to bigger clubs coming in and turning the heads of the better players.

Do you think that's any different to how football has been for the last 30-40 years?

It's just that you have a bunch of talented players all in one go that you're noticing :D

Pains me to say this but I'd rather Lallana go to Liverpool than any of the other big clubs. He would get played at Pool rather than waste away on the bench of a big club and only play in the cup.

Good point :p But whereas once upon a time it might have been possible that a sugar daddy could come in to supplement such players with established big names to take a team up towards the top of the league, financial fair play looks to me to have stifled that possibility.

My fear is just that teams like Southampton will continue to be stuck in the position they are now, unable to kick on, whilst the bigger clubs become even more cemented at the top (not that they needed FFP to do that anyway), picking and choosing the best players from everyone else. For me, that would make it pretty boring.

Remains to be seen how it all works though.

Im not suggesting my colleagues are right (they are liverpool supporters after all :D) but where would Lallana fit in?

Shaw I can understand to some degree, but Lallana is a lot harder to see who he would replace (as he wont move just to sit on the bench)

Thats my point too, Shaw would make sense and I think Shaw would get a game week in , week out. As we dont have anyone half decent at Left Back. Lallana though..when there is already Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho, Henderson and Gerrard...its difficult to see whom of those would make way for Lallana to play and I could end up seeing Lallana being rotated. I dont mind if he joined us of course but I would much rather see Shaw come and fix up our weak left back position

It cant be as simple as who will he replace straight off the bat, he's moving up the ladder, there needs to be desire to play hard/train hard and earn the spot too. Or is he willing to stick at Saints just for the starting team? He's moving to a champs league club. Yes Liverpool have had a good season but alongside that they have had a lot of time off. Champs league next year, minimum 6 games added to the fixture list. Needs to be competition in the starting XI, going to be rotation no doubt.

Rodgers needs to be looking for solid experience as well as the next bright star (this bits unrelated to Lallana just mean the whole squad altogether not just starting XI)

Where Suarez has been this season ;)

I doubt that lallana would move to any club in this country to risk sitting on the bench at this stage of his career, he might as well stick with Southampton and play majority of games and see what happens im a year or two ( depending on how long his existing contract is)

Desire, working and training hard is expected everywhere in the EPL so thats no different.

As long as Pochettino gets his new contract the players will stay. I don't understand why they are waiting until the summer though, it just allows for more speculation.
