Thats my point too, Shaw would make sense and I think Shaw would get a game week in , week out. As we dont have anyone half decent at Left Back. Lallana though..when there is already Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho, Henderson and Gerrard...its difficult to see whom of those would make way for Lallana to play and I could end up seeing Lallana being rotated. I dont mind if he joined us of course but I would much rather see Shaw come and fix up our weak left back position

Do you remember last weekend when Sturridge wasn't fit to start and Henderson was suspended? Lallana could have played then. When Suarez was suspended, followed by Coutinho dislocating his shoulder, Lallana could have played then too and so on.

You can't just rely on 11 players to see you through a season and worry about having too many players for the 5% of games when they're all available.

Even this season our squad has been too small, next season we're going to be playing at least an extra 6 games. We can afford to bring in Lallana + another forward and they along with the players you've mentioned will all still play 80-90% of games they're available for.

I hope and expect that we'll sign another deep lying CM as cover for Gerrard (possibly with Lucas leaving), a versatile midfielder like Lallana, a genuine wide player (Konoplyanka's still being talked about) and a better back-up striker to replace Aspas. As well as a LB and possibly another CB with Agger possibly leaving.
Not sure thats what he was saying:D
I've got a feeling Purdy got that ;)

I think PSG or Madrid will come in with an offer but my feeling is he will stay another year. That team has a real shot at the CL. Of course it will need adding to but I think they could give us some great games to watch next year in Europe.

You may want to read the comments attributed to him. It's not about being happy it's what he said. Along the lines of "we weren't set up to play football". He was unhappy but he's basically saying... we're playing rubbish football this is what happens when you don't try and play football. Which to me sounds like a pretty directed statement against Mourinho.

Yes they super defended their way to the CL two years ago and RDM did that but he took over a team that AVB had semi ruined. Last season RDM and then Benitez were gradually making the team more attacking and less super defensive in those situations and Mourinho has gone back the other way.

It's a pretty damn strong statement to make as the only way to really take it is "I hate the way Mourinho has us playing football".

Didn't realise he had given an interview, thought this was based on how he looked after they lost?

Got a link to it? Sounds exciting :D

Yes, it will be interesting when Hazard leaves Chelsea for somewhere like PSG, ickle Hazard is obviously going to sign a new contract with Chelsea when his brother has left and someone else is willing to make him a great deal on a free transfer in a couple years ;)

Seriously though these ultra negative tactics work occasionally but not anywhere near as often as just playing great football. It's why Mourinho has once in recent history fluked his way to a champs league win via ultra negative tactics. It's harder to play good football but when your team plays well they'll win more often than get the odd great result via negative tactics. More importantly, players don't like ultra negative tactics. A bit of positivity and belief and the entire team plays better.

Telling your team over and over "big game, we're going to defend really deep and with everyone back" is basically saying "I don't believe you are good enough to just win the game so we're going to try and steal a result". Shocking that players don't perform well over time when you keep telling them that.

I'm not sure that's true. The occasion was different last night. Chelsea had to win thus, didn't defend nearly half as well as they could have.
