Personally I'd take him. No denying his talent and presumeably would only be a backup to Sturridge, so seem like ability to cause disruption would be limited.

Don't kind yourself - time on the bench will just fuel his persecution complex. When he comes on to play he'll have all that much more pent-up craziness

He'd be an improvement on what's already there but that doesn't say much.
He's a defensively minded midfielder who fancies himself going forward as well. I'm not sure what he is exactly. He's alright but nothing special...

Not the most reliable source in the world, but Daily Mail were reporting earlier this week that he'd be offered a new contract as well.
Doesn't bode well for bringing in a new top class midfielder.
