I think Liverpool will then have enough about them to keep Manu out of the champions league positions. If I was a united fan I'd be very worried right now. I can see some panic buys coming.

Hibbert £27m!

yeah i can see UTD really really freaking out after Liverpool lost one of the best strikers in the world and drafted in a loony :D

"After the defeat to Swansea City, and only one player signed since the end of June, I feel it is time for major change. What do United need? Five players. Not five players with potential. Five experienced players... for now. Five proper players who can hit the ground running and turn the situation around. United’s forwards are as good as any team in the league. The problem is what comes behind them.

"My five would be: Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira, Raphaël Varane, Angel Di Maria and Mats Hummels. It would be one very big cheque for Real Madrid, given that four of them would come from that club. It would be hard to land them all. But that is the level that United need at this stage of the transfer window. I have not seen a lot of Marcos Rojo. He may fit the bill."

Scholes thinks we should sign Xabi Alonso :/

I think barring 2-3 top class signings before the end of the month we have little chance of CL football next season. At various points in the season we will have a couple of our better players out with injury and their replacements will be absolute cack.

I was genuinely expecting a real revolution this summer with loads of new signings and a big clear out of all the crap.

Instead we sign two players for which the deals had already been agreed before the window, one defender (rojo) and Nani has gone on loan.

What a crushing disappointment this transfer window has been for Man Utd : /

I think we all were. Get in a top class manager and let him spend as much as he needs to get the squad back on track. I expected at least 5 or 6 new players to come in with at least 3 of them being top top class players that would sort out the midfield and defence.

If this window does end as it currently stands, you have to be seriously worried about the long term future of the club. 2 years out of the CL league starts to look like a long term trend and the top players will be justified in concerns about our ambition.

Bebe has left as well, and Fellaini decided to get injured just as a deal was agreed abroad. We also cant GIVE Anderson away it seems (even to Brazil /Portugal)

Complete disappointment even so

If the window does finish like that (which really wouldnt be a surprise) there will have to be boardroom changes before next summer.

Whether LvG sticks around that long is another matter but he cant be found fault for what happens during negotiations.

(ie he wont - or shouldnt at least - be found responsible for any results, and imo would force changes above his head)

Arsene Wenger looking to "strengthen in the defensive department"

Does the man not realise they won't win the league without a 25 goal a season striker!?!?! (which Giroud isn't!)

I don't get the impression that LvG will stay if we don't get top 4 and don't invest in the squad. Without more players I can see us starting next summer without a manager and with exactly the same issues as we have now.

Well he certainly causes issues from time to time off the pitch, but he is also undoubtedly a highly talented player, who scores goals in all manner of ways.

£16m for Balotelli? When I look at the amounts paid for others this summer, £16m is an absolute bargain. He's strong, he's fast, he's skilful and he's 24. If he can be kept under control, he is going to be a hell of a signing for us this season.

Sterling, Sturridge, Coutinho, Balotelli. That is a pretty decent forward line, throw in Lallana and Markovic for some shots and if I was a defender , I just wouldn't know which way to look.

£16m does seem great value with the current trend in transfer prices.

There's no doubt he's talented and from a neutral point of view he can be great entertainment :D

Can't see LvG taking this kind of hit on his record. He'd do better to walk out if the transfer window shuts with the squad like that, than try to do a job with what he has.

Apparently Di Maria asked to leave RM over the summer but he also won't be too bothered if he ends up staying. I assume that he was hoping that PSG would buy him and pay him silly money. I doubt he would come to United though as we haven't built a team that is likely to get top 4 and he is at a club that just won the CL. I think he will stay till next season then see how Rodriguez does and how much playing time he gets.

Thought I'd pop in and see how the football arena is doing now the season has kicked off.

Oh my, what a cluster**** of idiots :D
