Cash. Can't rmember the name of the guy but they need money to make another signing and Balotelli supposedly wants out after the Italy/WC fan reaction.

Edit: they're after Cerci

I meant desperate for cash asking if they're in financial trouble.
If they're not and £16m is all they can get for him considering he wants away it seems a bit odd unless nobody else would take him of course.

Whereas Suarez's issues gave Liverpool problems off the pitch, he did nothing but put his all into the team when he was available. He was never sent off (that I recall) so never cost his team in matches that way, which is something I have a hard time feeling Balotelli will follow.

As odd as it sounds given his issues, Suarez was a team player.

Suarez was selfish for the majority of his time at Liverpool and only scored brilliantly in one season. In terms of him being a team player, almost every game he risked being sent off. Crap referee's shouldn't get by the fact he should have been sent off easily 10 times in his time at Liverpool, probably a LOT more. He screamed his face off at the race constantly in every game, in an over the top way that most players would get booked frequently. Multiple stamps, his bite, dozens of dives, kicking Parker in the stomach and frankly countless things he did on the pitch that should have resulted in doubling the bans he did receive.

The no reds thing is also a technicality, his on pitch behaviour meant he missed more games than any other player in the league... I would say over his time at Liverpool but, there are exceptionally few other players to have that many games missed in the history of the premier league. Cantona, Barton maybe(not sure how many official games he was banned for tbh, rather than sat in a jail cell not able to play). I doubt any other player since what 2000 has missed as many games as he did in the past 3 years though bans.

Each of his bans hurt his team badly and it was only a huge amount of terrible refereeing that meant he didn't miss many many more.

He ran his heart out for the team, which is what I was getting at. Liverpool might miss his goals, but they'll really miss his chasing down of defenders and determination.

The point about the reds was that he's never let his side down on the pitch - he's been banned for games, but the team can work around and prepare for that and still go and get results. If he'd been sent off, that would have been much harder, admittedly in individual games, but it would likely still result in 3 points lost a few times. He certainly deserved to get sent off a few times (but not 10 times, come on - two or three times for diving while on a yellow and once for having a nibble, but few others stand out) but he didn't.

By the way, they won 4, drew 1 and lost 1 while he was banned last season, so he didn't exactly hurt their title chances too much - they were still very much in the hunt upon his return.

I agree with this. We should just go and throw £60 million or so at Madrid and get them both signed

Indeed. Even 70 million for both would be pretty good. Then you get a world class forward in Di Maria that will pose a huge attacking threat against any team and a world cup winning box to box midfielder ( a position we so desperately need). Not to mention they have both played with each other for years in the same team and Di Maria gets on with Rojo and they play together with Argentina.

No Brainer. Should have signed them up immediately today :p

Im not convinced the defensive side of his game is good enough to be partnered with Herrera in CM - even if its better than what we have now.

For £15-20m I suppose it doesnt matter if we dont have to offer insane wages.

Upto £70m for them both would be a good deal but not sure its likely to happen
