#LFC talks with Balotelli agent have reached successful conclusion. Player will now fly into UK this afternoon to begin medical.

Both boo and yay at the same time. Glad it's all done but shame it's too late for Monday.

The press conference at 2pm is going to be a good one.

Hmmm Loic Remy to Spurs?! Not quite sure where £11m has been plucked from considering QPR signed him for only £8m a year or two back. And didn't he fail a medical this summer with L'pool?

Well at 8mil he was a striker no one knew would do well in the premier league, since then he's bagged 20 goals in 37 starts and like 4 sub appearances in a year and a half, about half a season of which(first half of last season) was with a team playing good football.

1 in 2 strike rate for the quality of team he was playing is very good. £11million looks a snip. AS for failing a medical, Stoke insisted Ba's knee was going to go any second, he's since scored a bunch of goals and played for what, 4 or more seasons without any serious injury. Medicals are subjective, not final. One doctor thinks a knee can't hack it, another doctor thinks it can.

Fair way of looking at it DM, would be interested to see if anything comes of this then. Although not sure what we would do with Remy considering we already have Ade and Soldado and the fact Poch seems to favour Kane.

Far too early to talk about favouring anyone, it's a couple games into the season and players will be at various stages of fitness and sharpness. Soldado might have started preseason thinking new manager, new chance, or thinking crap form, will be rubbish but in 3 months he could have form back and be leagues top scorer.

either way of the three strikers none of them are massively pacey or agile players. They lack the Defoe option now and need a pacey striker of some kind to offer an alternative. Give how Remy has done so far I would think £11mil is a complete and utter steal. Though given he is seemingly on a pretty high wage at QPR it could be a case of lowish transfer fee but significantly higher wage than lets say Long or Borini might be in. Long might have cost £12mil but be getting 40k a week over 4 years for around £20mil total. Remy might cost £11mil but get 100k a week and cost £31+ mil over 4 years.

Still, 20 goals in 37 starts considering the quality of teams he played for, still a very good price.

Dec 2011

It only takes one bad apple to upset the cart and I'm sorry but it's Balotelli at City. They have to now cut their losses, have a look and see who they can get in and replace him.

But they have to now say: 'Thank you very much' and replace him because I cannot think of a single more destructive influence in the Premier League.

Today

Liverpool need a new striker and I think AC Milan's former Manchester City frontman Mario Balotelli would be a great signing. Can Brendan Rodgers handle him? Yes.
Rodgers is the sort of hands-on manager who can handle players with big personalities. We saw that with Luis Suarez, and what he produced last season.
Mark Lawrenson. lol

Balotelli got plenty of bad press whilst he was at City, now he is at the media darlings Liverpool I can't wait to hear all the pundits and reporters change their tune.

Will be good to see him back, looking forward to seeing if he ever does get anywhere near his potential.

^^ Can you show me the actual bad press he got? I mean bad, rather than stuff like setting off fireworks in his own house or not being able to put a bib on. The only two things I can remember are him throwing a dart at a youth team player (this happened to me at uni, it was banter and taken as such), and him having a bust-up with Mancini. Genuine question though, there may have been more which I can't remember.

He's never struck me as a nasty guy, just a bit of a clown. I had a lot of time for him when he was at City, and he's now had a couple of years to mature a bit.

Biz didn't like the negative stuff written as it sold papers, we are media darlings and have never had the press write **** about us for months on end.

Also funny that you quote something he said in Dec 2011, the same month you came out with the daft Dzeko and Balo being 'far and away' better than Suarez :D

It's funny looking back, but to be fair to Balotelli and Lawenson, Mancini was also a massive ****, and Rogers isn't.

Milan will be selling Ballotelli for £16m for one of two reasons. They don't think he is worth very much because of his contribution or they don't want him because he is too much of a nutter.

If BR can get him playing as well as he can do consistently then he will be a good buy. If not, 16m isn't much to write off.

He scored 18 goals for Milan last season, so it's not like he performs badly.

Yup, because Suarez showed the same form and level throughout each and every game at Liverpool.

Suarez
13/14 33 starts 31 goals, 181 shots, 12 assists 1 goal in 5.8 shots. 1 assist every 3 games(roughly).

11/12 29 starts 11 goals 3 assists 128 shots , 1 goal in 11.6 shots, 1 assist per 10 games or so
10/11 12 starts 4 goals 3 assist 55 shots, 1 goal in 13.75 shots

Dzeko
11/12 16 starts(14 sub, for context) 14 goals 3 assists, 92 shots. 1 goal in 6.5 shots, 1 assist in every 5 starts or so.
10/11 17 starts 10 goals 1 assist 59 shots, 1 goal in every 5.9 shots

Balotelli

11/12 14 starts(9 sub) 13 goals 82 shots, 1 assist, 1 goal in 6.3 shots.
10/11 12 starts 6 goals 47 shots, 1 goal in 7.8 shots.

I do love that based off the last 18 months all liverpool fans act like Suarez has always been the bestest player ever and wasn't a hugely wasteful **** for his first 18 months.

If you want to bring up Biz saying that, try and remember the context, it was being said during a season in which Suarez was pretty meh, after half a season in which Suarez was pretty crap. In which Balotelli and Dzeko had great seasons and were both crucial in winning a title while Suarez did diddly squat.

Before the 12/13 season those two were better and had more impact on the team than Suarez and his twelve billion crap shots while ignoring the rest of the team.

He had a great 13/14 season, a pretty damn good 12/13, a pretty poop 11/12 and a pretty poop half 10/11 season.

Or because they don't have a pot to **** in and are flat out broke, but yeah, whatever suits your agenda.

Probably about time. Has ever really done much at United. Always worked hard but had one of the worst final touches I've ever seen. Hopefully Hernandez stays now. Have always liked him and would love for him to get more game time.

I would be rather surprised if Welbeck is off instead of Hernandez. Welbeck has actually wormed his way into my affections over the past season or two. He may not be the best goalscorer ever but he works a lot for the team and he was sorely missed against Swansea. Hernandez offers nothing apart from a goal poacher. We have the goalscorers in RvP and Rooney so having someone like Welbeck as an alternative is very useful at times.

RvP won't be going for more that a couple more years as well so I don't see why Welbeck wouldn't stay and try and steal that place when the time comes / RvP gets injured.

I don't understand what is so daft about it? at the time as I have already explained, I didn't watch much football outside of the top 4 unless it was City playing said team so I didn't watch much of Suarez at all and I don't judge players purely on the goals they are getting etc.

At the time Dzeko and Balotelli were doing well for us and as any biased fan I will always say that they are better than Suarez. I have since admitted that Suarez is now better because he seriously picked up form I think and fired Liverpool into the top 4 but anyway I prefer Dzeko.
