His finishing was woeful, excluding that (granted a big exclusion) he was very good. Plus World Cup performance is often a bad way to evaluate a player.

His passing I thought was the worst thing, just seems like the world has gone mad with these desperate transfer fees, the transfer of Rodriguez hasn't helped.

We could definitely do with a central midfielder, but our fully fit squad should be more than capable of getting 4th, I'd say.

I suppose we need to see how LvG is going to line the team up with Di Maria (assuming we actually get him :p). Maybe he'll try something different like Rooney as a winger, which may work assuming he doesn't keep trying to play CM.

Di Maria can take the ball past players easily though and create things, we don't have another player who is able to do this except Januzaj (which is embarrassing in itself).

I mean maria bis our robben and plays that role.

I know.

From Real Madrid to mid-table and no CL. Money must be brilliant.

And Agent Ronaldo helping seal the deal. :p

Because he won't be playing as a winger . Or, if he is, it could mean the much talked about triumvirate of RVP/Mata/Rooney can't all play.

I expect he would play on the right of 4 man midfield and united will move to 4 at the back. Mata and Harrera may have to rotate and I now guess that Kagawa will be surplus to requirements (which will be a massive shame).

..................De Gea

Rafael....Jones....Rojo.....Shaw

Di Maria......Harrera.....Januzaj

.......Rooney........Van Persie

You're convinced about fourth, aren't you :p. I think that's even less likely now Liverpool are sorting their gaping issue out (the lack of strikers).

You mean a 4-2-3-1 type thing, with RVP as a striker, Di Maria and Rooney as wingers, then Mata behind RVP? I don't think you've got the midfielders for that. Or a 4-3-3 with Mata back in a midfield three?

Convinced, no, but I'm surprised (or not) that you think Liverpool are clearly so far ahead given the extra games they've got. Even Arsenal might end up struggling, it could happen. While our team has deficiencies, the defence should get stronger when everyone is fit, and our attack is very good.

I'm really not sure how we'll line up, some variation of 4-3-3 could work, even if it means we have to drop someone, as long as we get results it doesn't really matter. Di Maria offers true pace and ability to go past people, only Januzaj can do this (and he's not nearly as good as Di Maria, yet).

 How on earth are you surprised at Moses being anything other than purposefully being a WUM towards Man United?

It's his favourite past time, don't you know.

More like

Young ---Fletcher---Herrera----zanjuzah
Shaw
Rojojo
-------------Jones--Smalling---------

Rojojo is now all I'm going to call him, excellent.

:D.

In actual transfer news;

Tiago Casasola has joined Fulham!

Fulham have signed defender Tiago Casasola from Argentine side Boca Juniors on a three-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months.

BBC Link.

Megadeath obviously plays Football Manager too!, excellent young player :).

I've not seen much of Di Maria, I do remember watching an El Classico last year where he put in the best 45 minutes of wing play I've ever seen. Look forward to seeing him in the premier league.

Di Maria is excellent, one of the better players at Madrid. He was always over shadowed by Ronaldo though. Transfer price is on the high side to be honest, but that is what we have been seeing recently.

Not sure how he will play though. 4-2-3-1 looks best imo.
