Not a Man Utd fan but surely they need a good CB and another CM before Di Maria?

These are separate points. They need all of them and as long as they can afford to address these areas after Di Maria then its not an issue.

The fact that they're struggling to get a cm and a cb in shouldn't mean they should forget other areas that need improving.

...? real talk?

Well, any defence will look bad when you have Cleverley and Fletcher shielding them, with Young at wing back. Jones/Evans/Smalling/Rojo/Blackett to cover 2 or 3 positions isn't exactly awful, they should improve by playing together as well. That's not to say I don't think we should buy an experienced CB like Benatia if we can, but I'd rather see midfield sorted first.

Thing is I reckon kagawa can do as good as mata in that position. We already had a lightweight playmaker we didn't accommodate and then Moyes broke the bank on another who was quite similar. He should have left Felaini be and bought b someone young who he already knew was good like Ross barley.

Yep, they would be the main concerns right now but I doubt that we are ignoring those positions because we have spent all our money on Di Maria.

Either we can't get the deal tied up for the CM and CB we want or LvG has decided that he really wants players that are not available.

I think he name dropped Vidal but that doesn't mean that we are going to get him. There was so much crap about that transfer earlier in the window that I can't see any deal happening.

In all seriousness, we could sell Welbeck and Hernandez for £30-35m and go into the season with Rooney, RvP and Wilson as our three attackers and Di Maria could play as a forward at a push.

The biggest issue we have at the moment is our midfield. Our wingers and CM are absolute trash if Herrera is injured and even when he is fit it is not great. Vidal would sort that out and then we need a CB but that isn't quite as important as CM.

Utd need an experienced/leader at the back. Evans and to a lesser extent Jones and Smalling are capable 2nd cb's but they shouldn't be leading a defence. Who knows with Rojo; some people say he's ok, others say he's ****.

I'd argue the defence is possibly worse than last year. Rojo and Shaw make up for Evra/Büttner/Ferdinand, but the hole left by Vidic's departure hasn't been filled, imo.

Agreed. The annoying thing is that had he stayed he would have been perfect for the middle CB of a 3. His only glaring weakness (lack of pace) less likely to get exposed with CBs either side.

What experienced leader at the back could we buy? We're only interested in Benatia (supposedly) and he'll go to Bayern.

It'll be interesting to see how Rojo does... could quite possibly go either way, but I'm hopeful.

Totally agree, someone like Vidic would do nicely. :(

Edit:

Ron Vlaar? I actually quite like him.

No idea. I'm not getting paid a fortune to answer those questions though.
Im just hoping rojo doesn't get sent down
That would be hilarious.

If the worst happened regarding Rojo allegedly breaking a glass bottle over his neighbours face, he can do community service in England, so we should be fine. He'll most likely pay off the victim though or something.

What a fart about though. :o :p
