Bloody Hell Man Utd don't wait around even though they don't have an official manager! I guess it makes negotiations easy that they played each other today!

They cannot afford to hang around like they did last year, the WC will tie them up enough as it is. Far too many players need shipping out to wait until after the WC. This should be the best transfer window for a few years in the EPL.

We need better than Cole and Flanagan next season. Expect to see a very different back 4 line up for us next season and I wouldn't be surprised to see as many as 6 defenders leave.

Our defensive situation really is up in the air at the moment. I have no doubt that had we received a decent fee last summer that Skrtel would have been sold and I don't think much has changed there. I think the same now applies to Agger too. Enrique will be sold if we can find a buyer which isn't certain after the injury hit season he's had. And there's huge question marks over Johnson's future because of his contract situation.

I think the only certainties are Toure staying because we'll struggle to shift him and Sakho.

That said I don't think there'll be major changes. I think we'll replace one CB, replace one fullback and then add another fullback to the squad.

Confirmed?
No

Maybe two defenders, a experienced lb and a CB, Johnson and Skrtl being sold. I'm worried that you may pry Shaw from us now.

Think we need a new first choice LB and RB and possibly a new CB, a DM, AM and forward.

I'd be looking to offload Borini (not suited to our style of play), Aspas, Alberto, Lucas (injuries have ruined him), Allen, Enrique, Johnson, Toure and Kelly.

Madness to sell Allen, you won't find somebody that'll take Toure off our hands and I'd certainly wouldn't be in a hurry to let Johnson go. He covers both RB and LB and you won't get anybody as good as him for what we'd get for him.

We need a couple of fullbacks though, a CB if one of Agger or Skrtel go, a replacement for Lucas, an additional midfielder, another AM/winger and decent striker cover.

Madness? It would be madness to sell Sterling, Suarez or Sturridge. If we get Lallana do you really see him featuring much? He isn't strong enough or fast enough to cover the defence if we play possession football high up the pitch, he provides very little creativity and he's not a goal threat.

I'm really lost as to what he offers us in any way shape or form other than keeping possession if we're dominating a match and want to shut up shop which Rodgers doesn't seem to do.

Be interesting to see what we do with Ibe and Suso next season. I'd be very happy to see Suso go if it means he's part of a deal to bring Rakitic here tbh.

We need a squad not 11 players. Allen's a very good if not spectacular player and somebody we will need next season. We've seen this season how difficult it is to play as one of the box to box players in a 4-3-3 or a diamond and Allen is one of just 2 players we have that can do the job. We need to add Lallana and possibly 1 more midfielder before we look at replacing Allen.

Reus has confirmed he is staying at Dortmund next season (not that its much of a surprise), just hoping he doesnt sign another contract to get rid of the reported buy out clause in 2015.

(Only seen blog quotes so far)

Whilst I don't subscribe to this 'Allen is amazing' guff, I do think we need to keep as many as possible for our CL campaign next season. For me there are only one of two departures, aspas is gone with Borini coming back as his replacement and Johnson if we get some good money for him, 100k a week and the fact he has been average to rubbish for most of the season means he is the most likely to go.

Coming in: Lallana, Konoplyanka, Schmelzer, cb if Agger goes and Micah Richards. Most interesting rumour thanks to the kicker is also Thomas Muller /drool

..Micah Richards...

If City's CL squad gets cut then I think we can forget about Richards leaving.

I'll be shocked if only 2 players leave too, although most that will leave are likely to have not featured this season. I think all of the following have a chance of leaving: Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Enrique, Kelly, Lucas, Alberto, Borini and Aspas but as I said above, I think it'll be one or the other with Johnson and Enrique, and Agger and Skrtel.

Not a surprise if true. His style of play and the positions he can play make him a natural fit for us. The only concern would be his price, you wouldn't want to go too far (if at all) over £20m for him.

I don't see why Southampton would accept any offers before the World Cup. Interest would still be there afterwards and even if it wasn't, who cares as we'd get to keep him.

His value isn't going to go down after the World Cup so they may as well wait and see what happens. Particularly as both he and Shaw have pretty long contracts left... Not that it means that much :p

So if City sign Shaw, will that free up Clichy or Kolarov? Both been v good at times this season. I know Juventus were interested in Kolarov last summer but Pellegrini seem's to be playing him more.

Because teams might just move on. Teams will have a list of targets, where if they can't get one they'll move onto another option.

This is what I mean though - Southampton don't need to sell them and don't want to sell them.

On top of that, Southampton will be keen on getting their deals done early/won't want to be in a position whereby they sell someone for a lot of money late in the summer, then need to go out and buy a replacement (when selling clubs will know they have a load of money available and limited time to get someone in).

This position I can understand completely. But its not as though they're players that will be out of contract next summer. They both signed new ones last season. So if people don't want to pay up for them, they don't move on. Same if they try and stall a deal until the end of summer leaving us no time to find replacements. If they don't do the deal in good time, they don't get the player.

If I had to choose to keep one it would be Lallana. As the captain and key player, he'd be a big loss. Shaw would be a massive sale for 1.5 seasons of service and we seem to produce left backs for fun :p

Question for Liverpool fans:

- Do you think that you will hold on to Suarez this season? And if not, how big of a blow would it be to your team?

It seems that he would fetch somewhere around £60-£70m if he leaves for Real... This would go a long way towards building a solid squad to cover for next seasons cup rotation. Of course his leaving would still be a blow, but would the presence of Sturridge and Sterling make the money a more attractive bet, now that you need to compete in Europe again?

How much money would be "enough" to justify losing Suarez?

[genuine question btw - I'm not trolling for an argument here]
