Thats only ~£125k a week.

EDIT: I see that's net, so ~£180k a week. Still not that bad.

EDIT2: Seems to be mixing Euros and Pounds. He states £60m over 5 years, but then says €8m/yr net. If the original £60m is to be believed, then its £180k a week, which IMO is not that bad.

I saw it because I follow sporting intelligence, which posts loads of good football finance stuff.

I know, it was just a joke. :p

His information may sometimes be good, but he usually twists it so it makes us sound as awful as possible. :/

Either way you'll always be paying top whack for this level of player, I guess.

I assumed he would be on ~£200k / week. You don't buy someone for £60m and pay him £100k / week.

Personally think the Di Maria signing is akin to buying an F1 car when you can't afford petrol. Pretty but not much use.

There must be zero strategic planning when they've ****** away all this money on relatively similar players and still have a **** CM setup and CB setup.

We'll see though but whilst I think he's a good player he's the wrong signing.

I agree with you to an extent. I think it is the right signing though, but a decent CM and CB are still required in this transfer window. Di Maria alone isn't going to save United now.

If we sign no-one else then you look at the Di Maria signing and think 'why?'... but if it's a signing as well as midfield and defensive reinforcements which are signed before Monday then things look a lot better.

I think somebody said before that there's no way a coach like LVG who has trained a lot better players than he has at the moment looks at Tom Cleverley and co and thinks "they'll do a job for me". I'm sure he knows how important that midfield especially is strengthened.
