"Stu in Essex: As a United fan here's my thoughts on the defence. We've gone from Rio to Rojo, it's making me go Blind with worry, I'm trying to Blackett out. But I'm not Shaw I Evra can. We need someone to Phil the gaps, but hopefully every cloud has Da Silva lining, Evans knows how we'll cope, but hoping our worries are not getting larger but are now Small-ing. "

Quite funny :)

Hopefully for United Blind will be able to provide a link between defence and midfield. Otherwise, signing Falcao won't do much to improve them. He won't do much more with long balls than Rooney or Van Persie, and having Evans and Blackett try to slide balls through to the midfield hasn't been working brilliantly so far.

No more movement at Newcastle. Nastasic on loan was mentioned in passing, but I doubt it was anything concrete. I'd still like to see us go for Joel Campbell, but even Wenger isn't stupid enough to let him leave now Giroud is out.

Sky Sports "sources" say Arsenal have lodged an interest in signing Defoe.

If that isn't panic buying from Arsene I don't know what is.

No doubt a 16 year old french ligue 4 player will sign soon.

Speechless if we don't do any business in today - Wenger flying off to a charity match... u wot m8? So far we've bought replacements for outgoing players and only added one player (Sanchez) as an actual addition. Das not it mane.

Wenger worrying gunners supporters by not buying more players? Who'd have thought it :p

It's been going on ever since I started following football :p It's like a British tradition now.

Most of the journos who are usually reliable-ish with Arsenal are saying we have nothing on the cards in terms of buys today, nothing at all.

He's a pure goal scorer though, very selfish and just wants to score, score and score..

As if Wenger has lodged some interest, it was purely sceptical when i mentioned earlier..

I don't know why Arsenal fans are moaning about not signing a striker - you've made do with Bendtner for God knows how many years - surely having no-one is a step up!?!? :p

It'll be fun to have a 'proper' number 9, shirt is free too!

£43.5m option to buy so he'll have to be at his best for that. Assuming he's free of injury, no reason he couldn't be great for a good few years yet.

Are there not strong rumours of him wanting a move to Real Madrid?

Oops wrong thread.................;):o:D

We've lost our player of the year and the League One Play of the Year Adam Forshaw to Wigan on a four year deal.

They started tapping him up ages ago - his agent and Rosler's agent are the very same, and apparently he'd agreed terms a couple of weeks before we accepted a fee.

Ironically we signed him for free but with a 40% sell-on going to Everton. No issue with that, but with the fee apparently at £3.6m rising to £5m+, Everton wanted their 40% up front (around £1.5m) but Wigan wanted to pay us our fee in installments. Meaning that we were going to lose our best player and be initially out of pocket for it. What a kick in the teeth.

Wigan are an atrocious club. Screwed us around, screwed Leicester around with the McCarthy fee apparently, and paraded Delort around the ground on Saturday before they'd even signed him!

Wish Forshaw all the best in his career though. Best player I've seen at Griffin Park in the last 20 years. Got to be one of the highest fees for a player who's never played above League One level though, good negotiating on our behalf.
